"until next time"

"Yeah, they were the worst," I said, thinking back to all the nights I'd be cramming in loads of homework as my head throbbed and my eyes felt like they were trying to take a leap of faith from their sockets. "Why do you ask?"

"My head hurts, and I don't know what to do."

"Just tell Mom, sis. She'll give you some medicine, and probably make you some tea or something," I said, finding myself aimlessly wandering around the room.

"Okay, I'll see if she's still up," Anna said, but I knew she'd be talking to me for at least another ten minutes. "So... what did you do tonight?"

"I went on a date."

"Cassidy set you up again?" Anna asked, a smirk clear in the way she spoke.

"Yes... but it was actually a nice date," I said, and could've sworn crickets could be heard from inside the phone call. I don't think Anna had ever heard me say a nice thing about one of the dates I had been on.

"Nice in what way?" Anna asked after a long pause.

"Well, he was actually attractive. I'm talking really attractive, Annie. I'll have to find him on social media or something and send you a picture. And if you take away his looks, he's charming, funny... just an all around good guy, or so it seems," I told her, biting my lip gently as Calum ran through my head.

"You're kidding," Anna said, scoffing as if she couldn't believe what I was saying. "Cassidy didn't screw you over this time?"

"Not in the slightest," I said, picturing Calum in my head, clear as day. "God, Annie, he's so hot. You know I wouldn't just say that about anyone... he's hot."

"I want to see this guy, Emmie!" I laughed as Anna became impatient, and I glanced over at Graham and Cassidy who were talking quietly on the couch.

"I'll send you a picture, I promise," I told her, smiling to myself. "I gave him my number... and he wants to go out again." Cassidy looked up as the words left my lips and her mouth fell to the floor at the exact moment Anna let out a squeal.

"You're gonna have a boyfriend!" Anna shrieked, becoming excited as she put the idea in her head.

"We'll see," I told her, laughing quietly as I winked at Cassidy who was still in awe.

"My almost fifteen-year-old heart can't take this, Emmie. You're too old for cute romance... I should be the one telling you cute stories about some hot guy I met at school," Anna sighed heavily and my eyes rolled as she began to whine. "I'm going to die alone. Don't bother inviting me to your wedding, I'm not coming."

"Oh, stop being ridiculous," I told her, not wanting to hear a word from her. Anna was gorgeous, and plenty of guys were after her, she just didn't like to pay any attention to them. "What happened to your head hurting?"

"It still hurts..." Anna said, lying straight through her teeth.

"Go talk to Mom and get to bed," I told her, knowing even I would need to get to bed soon. "I love you."

"I love you, too, Em," Anna sighed quietly and I bit my lower lip as I waited for her to continue, knowing she had something else to say. "When are you coming home?"

"You have less than twenty-four hours without me, then I'm all yours. I got your Christmas present yesterday, and I'll just go ahead and say it: I'm the best sister in the world," I gloated, thinking of what I had picked up for Anna the day before.

"I got your present last weekend... and I think the title of Best Sister in the World might be mine," Anna challenged my earlier statement and I laughed cheaply, knowing she couldn't beat me.

"We'll see about that, kid. Get some sleep, and be good. Santa's still watching."

"Emmie, I'm almost fifteen. Stop taunting me with Santa Claus." I laughed quietly as my shoulders shrugged, thinking I could still get away with it. "I'll talk to you tomorrow?"

"Of course, I'm always a phone call away."

"Okay, goodnight. Don't forget to send me a picture!" I laughed at Anna's request and nodded my head, making a mental note to find one.

"Will do," I told her, walking back toward the couch. "Goodnight, Anna." The call ended and I sat down between Graham and Cassidy, causing them to separate. "You know what the best thing about him is?"

"Santa Claus?" Graham asked and I rolled my eyes before gently punching his shoulder.

"No. Calum," I said, jogging their memories of our conversation.

"Oh, Calum. What's the best thing about him?" Graham asked, causing Cassidy to laugh as he seemed so intrigued.

"He calls me Emerson."
