Chapter 29

"And why should I even consider this?"

"The same reason that you haven't killed me. You need my help to kill Klaus. And I need you."

My phone buzzes and I see it's Damon, I clicked the reject button and then Stefan rings and I pick up the phone.

"Where are you? Are you okay? Elena and Damon are worried sick since they can't reach you." I sighted and smiled.

"Yes, I'm fine, Stefan. You can tell them both to stop worrying about me."

"Where's Elijah?"

"He's right here next to me."

"Where? I'm on my way."

"No, Stefan, Elijah and I need some time alone."

"Listen to me. He can't be trusted he'll use you to get to Klaus."

"Elijah is a noble man, Stefan. He lives by a code of honor. I can trust him. He knows that I'd be incredibly stupid to betray him again. By removing the dagger, I have proven myself."

"You can't do this alone."

"It's my decision, Stefan. Please respect it. And make sure that Damon and Elena doesn't do anything stupid. I'll be in touch."  I hang up and Elijah holds his hand out. I give him my phone and he puts to in his jacket pocket.

"He's here."

"Klaus is here?"

"He's taken over Alaric's body."

"Of course he has. One of his favorite tricks."

"Well, what are his other tricks? What is he going to do next? You're the only one who knows him."

"Yes, I do."

Were at the Lockwood Mansion. Elijah knocks on the door and Carol opens it.

"Elijah, Lyanna! What are you doing here? What happened?"

"I've had a bit of an incident, Carol. I'm hoping you could help."

"Well, I'm on my way to a meeting, so I-" Elijah compels Carol.

"It won't take but a minute of your time." Carol smiles. It's creepy seeing her smiling, like really creepy.

"Of course. Anything you need."

"Thank you." We entered the house and I looked at it around me. It's all empty and so quite, it's creepy as well.

"Well, first things first. I'm going to need a change of clothing."

"Well, we can try one of my husband's suits. I haven't boxed them up yet." You can hear the hint of sadness in her voice. I haven't been here since the thing for her husband.

"Wonderful." Carol goes upstairs and I couldn't help myself but ask.

"How did you know she's not on vervain?" I said, smirking. I'm impressed at his skills but for some reason there's a connection between me and Elijah. Something that I cannot describe.
