the sky's depression dresses the concrete paths
with every step, droplets jump up my calves
ominous terror grates my heart
beatbeatbeatbeatbeatbeat
I begin to run in fear of capture
the only other sound, the sound of laughter
maniacal
deep
mocking
the ill notes of dread drift closer as my legs tire
puddles of tears drench my shoes
pushingpushingpushing
step by step
gaining on me
i can't run anymore
rapid breaths escape free
my heart scratches my throat
lungs fill with lead and rubber
breaths no longer one after the other
the all push in front, trying their best to come out
but my chest seizes
squeezing
tightening
burning
panicpanicpanic
the volume increases
the chuckling gripping my mind now
mockingmockingmocking
consciousness is further away
the sound before I fall
the only sound I hear
the one I fear
Anxiety's laughter
it's here
