Y/N's POV

Everything began to feel unbearable. Even the little things, like that short walk to the mess hall for breakfast, started feeling like a chore. I felt like there was no reason to be doing any of it. From the activities, to the camp fires, it all started to feel pointless.
And I couldn't help but wonder if that was what Max felt. I couldn't help but beg to ask him about it. But either way, I couldn't ask him because I couldn't talk to him.
Sure, it might've been a Saturday, but it was the worst Saturday ever. What a sorry excuse for a weekend well spent, because all that I had done on my free day was sit in my bed, wishing I had Max.

3rd Person (Omniscient) POV

Neil started a sluggish walk towards the counselors' cabin, followed by a small group of other campers. The other campers included Dolph, Space Kid, Preston, and Harrison.
Even though Neil had taken the lead, none of this was his idea. For some odd reason, Neil felt it was his job to take the wheel. And while mostly everyone was happy with it, Harrison was not. Though Harrison didn't file any complaints, his gait had changed. He was hunched over and occupied with mumbling to himself.
"Guys!", Neil hollered. "C'mon!" He turned away from the campers that trailed behind him and switched his step to something more confident as opposed to tired. He wasn't slouching anymore. The other campers rolled their eyes, excluding Dolph and Space Kid, who nodded understandingly.
"I don't even know why Space Kid is part of this.", Preston whispered to his lover boy. Harrison let out a small snort, causing a chain reaction of chuckles from Preston, who landed a playful hand onto Harrison's shoulder. "Really, though."
Harrison looked straight ahead, entering one of his thought sessions. Luckily for Preston, this one was short. "Yeah, I don't know.", Harrison concluded. Preston rolled his eyes. He was the type of person to like having all the answers. Despite his love for acting and interpretation, he wasn't a fan of speculation. "Well, I mean, he knows Y/N. I'm sure he'll be pretty good at sweet talking David, too.", he tried. Preston shrugged.
Soon enough, they had all made it to the doorstep of the counselors' office. "Okay guys, you remember what to say, right?", Neil asked. Everyone gave a half-hearted nod. Neil had annoyed everyone so badly that they had lost their enthusiasm. "Good! Alright, let's get this over with."
And with that, one by one, each kid made a confident entrance. They knew what they had to do, and each of them felt determined. They all had their own reasons, but they were all contributing to the same cause.

A/N - Once again, @RhinestonePeach hit me up with that "updateeeee!", so I had to split my current chapter up into two parts so I could update. I'm sorry I've been a bit slow lately, it's just that marching band and school shopping is taking up oodles of my time. ☁️
