6 years later

Alexis sighed as she cleaned another table in the small diner she worked in. She was tired, tired of working so much and taking care of her daughter, Lily, who she had raised on her own.

Alexis took a sip of her coffee, enjoying the mere minutes that she wasn't needed in the diner. Lunch hour just ended, so most business people had already returned to their jobs.

There were some elderly people, some tourists and some business people who continued to work on their laptops in several booths around the diner.

The diner was in downtown Cleveland, so it was quite a busy street to be in. Alexis never minded though, because the more work she did, the faster the time went, she also got a lot of big tips.

Alexis was absentmindedly cleaning a table when the bell chimed above the entrance. When she looked up, her breath hitched in her throat. She immediately recognized the person who entered. As he turned his head towards her, she ducked down behind the table, hoping he hadn't seen her.

But of course Colson had seen her, after all he was hoping he would find her here. It had taken him a while to find out where Alexis worked, he had to contact several of their high school friends to figure it out.

''Alex, is that you?'' he asked, already knowing the answer. He only needed to see a little glimpse of her and he recognized her immediately.

Alexis closed her eyes and took a deep breath before peeking over the table. A devilish smirk crept onto Colson's face as he approached her.

Alexis could feel that her cheeks had heated up, so she just started to clear the table of the dishes and walked away from him.

She felt so embarrassed! She had literally tried to hide under a table!

Colson had expected her to still be mad at him, but he was a little surprised that she had walked off without even saying something. And hiding under a table from him? Was he that bad?

''Hey, wait up!'' he said and followed her.

Alexis quickened her pace and disappeared into the kitchen. She took this opportunity to try and calm herself, a million questions running through her mind.

Why was he here?

What was he doing here?

What if he found out about our daughter?

The last question only made her panic even more. He couldn't find out. He would get mad and take Lily away from Alexis. He was famous now, he had the money and the power to do just what he wanted.

''Alexis, are you alright? There's a costumer waiting to be helped.'' Her boss was a kind, middle aged man, with a very nice smile and a soft voice.

''I'm sorry, I'm alright. I'll go help them immediately,'' she said, smiling at her boss. She didn't want to disappoint him, after everything he had done for her. He knew she was a young, single mother and that she sometimes needed to leave early to pick up her daughter. He was a very nice, understanding boss. In return, she was never difficult and always showed up early and worked hard.

Colson had been waiting for her at the register. He refused to leave before he could talk to her. She was one of the reasons he came back after all. He had missed her a lot the last couple of years. After she had cut all ties with him, he tried to move on. He even had a long-lasting, but toxic relationship with someone, but the moment he broke it off, he realized there was only one girl he wanted. One girl that made his heart skip a beat. One girl who he had messed up with big time. He was here to make it right, though.

''Can I help you with something?'' Alexis asked bitterly as she saw Colson.

''Hi Lex, just a coffee please. And a little bit of your time?'' He asked, showing off his signature smile. The smile she fell for all those years ago. The smile that still held her in its power.

She ignored the second part and just made his coffee.

''How have you been? Haven't seen you in like, what... 6 years? Damn, you lookin' good Lex.'' He said, biting his lip as he ran his eyes over her beautiful body. She was still as petite and beautiful as the last time he had seen her. It seemed like it was just a couple of months since he had seen her last.

''That'll be 3.25 please.''

''Alexis, please. Don't be like this.'' He pleaded as he handed her the money.

''Thank you sir, have a good day.''

Before Colson could say another thing, she had already turned on her heels and walked back to the kitchen, out of his sight, barely catching a glimpse of a tattoo of a lily on the back of her neck.

Alexis let out a breath as she closed up the diner behind her. What a day it has been. Her head was killing her, obviously going into overdrive because of Colson's unexpected arrival.

Alexis was very relieved when she arrived at home, without running into Colson again. It would've been a lot like Colson to just wait for her to finish work to talk to her again. If Colson wanted something, he sure as hell would get it.

Alexis was greeted by her best friend Emma. Whenever Alexis was running late or had to work late, Emma would watch Lily.

''She's been an angel.''

''I know. Thanks for picking her up, Ems.'' Alexis said, giving her best friend a hug and a kiss on her cheek.

''No problem love, you know that. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a date with a very, very sexy business man.''

''Go get him girl!'' Alexis sent her best friend a wink and a wave, just before she left.

As the silence took over in the house again, she couldn't help but let the tears flow. She had been holding them back all day, but it was just too much to handle.

Alexis hadn't cried over Colson in years, but seeing him in real life brought back so many memories and painful feelings, it was impossible not to cry.

''Mommy, are you crying?'' Alexis' daughter asked, rubbing her sleepy eyes with one hand and clutching her teddy bear close to her chest with her other hand. Alexis quickly wiped away the tears and put a smile on her face, so her little girl wouldn't get too worried.

''No baby, mommy is okay, don't you worry.'' Alexis pulled her little girl on her lap and brushed her fingers through her brown curls.

''Let's go to bed angel, you got your first day of school tomorrow!'' Alexis said, feeling incredibly proud and quite overwhelmed. She could still remember the day she held her baby, only minutes old, into her arms for the first time. Now her little girl was already going to school!

''Mommy?''

''Yes dear?'' Alexis replied as she tucked her little girl into bed.

''I love you.''

''I love you too, baby.''

Alexis couldn't help but smile at her daughter. She was the best thing that has ever happened to her. After kissing her on her forehead, she left the room and went to her own bed.

The thoughts came flooding back. The same question repeating itself in her head:

Should I tell Colson?
