Chapter 11

~Your P.O.V~

You took a deep breath as you watched the battle take place. Watching as members from the team fell, while others defeated clone after clone. It was a slaughter out there. You closed your eyes tightly and felt the Phantom Ruby throb in your hand.

Tails flew to your side, at first watching the fight with worry, but now turned to you. He pointed to your hand, the gem,

"Look, it's reacting. Eggman said something about the Phantom Ruby prototypes. Let me see."

You nodded and handed the prototype to him. Once you let go of the gem, it stopped glowing, the power radiating from it disappeared.

"Whoa, it is." The twin-tailed fox smiled, before handing it back to you, "He said that the Phantom Ruby prototypes only react to the person who has activated it. That must be you, (Y/N)! Your courage and heroism are probably what triggered it. Just maybe, if you use this, it can make that sun disappear."

You nodded, but you just weren't sure how. Facing the sun once again, a heavy feeling set in your stomach. What if you couldn't do this? What if you failed?

Everyone could die.

That was a big risk right now.

Tails studied your face, before sighing, "I know, it's a big responsibility isn't it? But what if what I said before works? If you could tap that prototype's energy into the sun, maybe it will interfere enough for it to just... Disappear."

Looking back at the shiny red-ish-purple gem, you knew there was only one way to find out. Giving the yellow kitsune the thumbs up, you ran off, heading up one of Eggman's towers. Your heart was pumping loudly in your ears, and the thought of backing out sounded like a good idea.

-No... I can't back down now... The Resistance is depending on me!- You thought angrily to yourself, -I won't let the others die... I can't. Sonic can't die again...-

He feels like more than just an idol to you now. And you knew you couldn't let him down. The disappointment you could imagine on his face would crush you. You could hear his words as clear as day in your mind.

"Hey, don't be scared! This is your moment to shine!"

"Keep going. Don't let your fear own you!"

"The world is depending on you (Y/N)."

There was no time to wimp out, you had to do this. You took a deep breath as you climbed. And as you reached the top of the tower, as you jumped up towards the burning sun, only one thought went through your mind.

Yeah it's a quickie, but I actually planned for it to be! So yay for that! :3
