To her it was ethereal beauty. Crystal clear waves washing against the sand, beckoning the thousands of golden specks into its grasp.

She could relate to the sea. The ocean was so big and vast. So deep. The waves revealed the emotions of the ocean. It was so full of life, teeming right to the bottom with it.

And yet it was so empty.

So lonely.

Like her.

She was surrounded by people, always happy and cheering, laughing and playing. But she never fit in. She always felt so alone.

There was one who could make her happy, but now he was gone. Unobtainable. Something officially unreachable to her.

She found comfort in the ocean depths. She wished the sea would take her in the same way it takes in the sand. She wished she could drift forever among the currents. Become apart of the sea.

Despite the late hour, she still went down the the shore. She sat on the rough outcrop of rocks and watched the waves crash against the surface.

She was used to the sounds of the ocean, so accustomed to the rhythm of the waves that she noticed instantly when there was an irregular splash, catching her attention.

Following not long after, a song breached her ears. It seeped into her very being. A song of heartbreak and longing.

"O broken hearted one, your soul has grown weary,"

She was instantly entranced, lured by the song. It tugged on her soul, drawing her forth.

"Have you turned to the rippling tides to engulf your lonely tears?"

She crawled forwards slowly across the rock face, each movement taking her closer to the ocean.

"May the waves embrace you, lull you softly to sleep,"

Closer, closer.

"Ease away all the hurt and pain, that you've carried all these years,"

A hand rose and beckoned her closer. She reached out for it, falling forwards.

"But if given the chance, would you forget the past?"

She landed in the water with a splash, the salty water closing over her head.

"You and I can start all over,"

She was drowning. She knew she was. But no panic overcame her. Only a peaceful calm, like the lull in the waves. She did not struggle, only float under the surface.

"We can love again,"

A human figure swam closer, lips moving in sync with the song, despite being underwater, it was clear as day. Arms and a tail, one of the deepest blue wrapped around her, pulling her close.

"My dear..."

Their lips touched in a simple kiss. Her eyes fluttered shut and she sank into darkness.

When she awoke, she felt free, but cold and lonely.

She couldn't remember why.

All she knew was there was her and the sea.

Both alone.

Until another blue heart comes along.

This is just a random one-shot. Inspiration was gained from Siren's Lament. The Siren's Song itself, is however from Siren's Lament, and not at all mine. So I suppose it's a Siren's Lament one-shot fanfiction?

The person in this story is not named or nor is her appearance described. The idea is you imagine her as you see fit. Who do you see?

Peace,
