The next day, Knuckles along with the rest of the resistance planned an assault on Metropolis, known as Operation Big Wave with the Rookie leading. While on the move the rookie was surprised when he came across Infinite, activating the Phantom Ruby, Infinite caused chaos to the resistance causing some of them to retreat only leaving the rookie to fight alone.
Infinite's POV
"More ants to crush. I wonder if this world can offer me a real challenge." I said looking down at Metropolis, I started thinking of how to take Aurora away from the danger until I heard someone behind 'Finally someone to challenge' but I was disappointed when it was just a trembling child
"And as if to answer, the world sends a trembling a child." dashing to him, in a flash I was next to him
"Are you going to fight and die here? Or, run away in fear again?" I whispered in his ear, instead of running away like he did in the city he decided to try and fight me
"Fine. I will teach you fear, then pain, and then...well, at least the fear and pain will end." I said while floating off the ground. During the battle, I started to remember who this person was.
"I remember you. You ran from me before. You survived then, but you throw it all away now. Curious. This will be goodbye" I used my power and created illusions of cannons around him, however when I fired they went through him
"what!? How is this possible? It can't be... How did you?" I fired again, but he dodged it, he was about to attack me, but I quickly flown him back making him stumble to the ground
"No matter. They have only two days left. Let them contemplate the inevitable until I end this once and for all." I said and flew away. I watched from above as the resistance retreated 'Pathetic' I thought turning and walked away.
Two days later
I began to walk towards the base to Aurora's room just as I was by the door I heard a large crash from inside. Quickly opening the door I ran inside, seeing Aurora in the center of the room on her knees cradling her stomach in pain as her body glowed a white color, looking around the room I saw the same white energy cubes from the beach. 'The baby' I thought, before running towards her, kneeling down behind her I placed Aurora on my lap leaning her back on my chest while her head laid on my shoulder. As she groaned in pain near my ear I gently stroked her stomach
"calm down little one, daddy is here" As I continued to stroke her stomach feeling the baby inside slowly start to calm down, 10 minutes passed when everything turned back to normal. I held Aurora closer to me as she panted heavily from her mouth, I gently picked her up bridal style, standing up I then placed her on the bed. Walking to the other side I laid down next her and placed my hand on her baby bump caressing it with my thumb

I took off my mask and placed it by the bed, bending my head down and lightly kissed her stomach, I was about to sleep when Eggman called me from my communicator. Putting my mask back on, I got out of bed, but not before kissing Aurora's stomach once more and walked out of the room to meet Eggman. Arriving at Green Hill, I looked at the hologram and saw the Death Egg destroyed ' this resistance is becoming a nuisance to our plan'
