A/n: so this story will have some OCs including Aspen. Anyway I hope y'all enjoy!

Third person POV

Tears slip down Jenny Laurens' face face as she watches her best friend load his things into a car.

"Why do you have to go?" She asks Alexander.

"I'm sorry, Jen," he says. "You know this is the last thing I wanna do."

"Then don't go!" Jenny says, "please, Alex!"

"I'm so sorry, Jen," Alex says. "I'm gonna miss you so much."

Alex hugs her tightly.

Finally, there time together is up as Alex's mother calls him to the car. Alex and Jenny pull away and look at each other.

"I'll never forget you," Alex says as he hugs her and runs to his mother.

"Goodbye, Alex." Jenny says.

I just wish I got the chance to tell you...

Many years later

John's POV

I pull my bag tighter around me and tug at my sweater's sleeves nervously. It's been five years since my best friend left and I still wish I had the chance to tell him.

My name is John. Not Jenny. I'm a boy.

I discovered this a long time ago before Alex left and my mom got me the medications to make me look more masculine.

She's gone now and I'm left with my dad. He's the worst. He treat me like dirt because I'm trans.

Luckily he doesn't know my other secret. I'm gay.

That would tip him over the edge.

I look around the halls and I walk into a taller boy with dark hair. He has big brown eyes that seem so familiar.

"S-sorry," I squeak, looking at my feet.

"It's ok," he says and I look up at him. "I'm Alex."

"John," I say quietly.

"Nice to meet you, John!" He holds his hand out for ne to shake.

I take his hand and give it a firm shake, "n-nice to meet you too."

My god, he's gorgeous.

Alex's POV

"Em, do you happen to know where room 1776 is?" I ask the small boy.

His green eyes seem to light up.

"We're in the same class!" He exclaims, "follow me!"

We walk together down the hallway till we get to room 1776. We walk in and John takes a seat in the back. I take a seat near the front.

I turn to look at John he's drawing on a piece of paper. It kind of reminded me of Jenny. She loved to draw more then anything.

I notice some things about John. He's got very long curly brown hair and the most beautiful green eyes I've ever seen. Another feature that reminds me of Jenny.

I see a girl with long red curly hair walk into the classroom. She looks familiar, too. She plops down beside John and taps his shoulder.

He turns to her and his eyes light up. They talk to quiet for me to hear.

That when the teacher walks in and starts the class.

Later that day

I sit down beside John and smile at him. His cheeks flush a light pink color.

"Is it ok if I sit with you?" I ask.

He nods, fiddling with his sleeves.

Why is he wearing a sweat shirt? A dark colored one at that.

He looks down. Another thing I notice is he seems shy. It's kinda cute.

Just then that same girl from our first class sits across from John and I along with a girl in a yellow crop top and a black skirt.

"Hey, bro!" Says the red haired girl. She's quite pretty as well.

"Hey, Aspen!" John smiles.

Aspen.

Where have I heard that name before?

"Who's this?" Asks the girl in the yellow, snapping me out of thought.

"Alexander." I teach my hand out to her, "nice to meet you!"

"Margarita Schuyler, but call me Peggy," she says. "Call me Margarita and I'll beat your ass."

I nod, "good to know."

I turn to the other girl, "and you are?"

She smiles at me, "Aspen Laurens. I'm John's sister."

Laurens.

It can't be...

Can it?

A/n: well I hope you enjoyed the first chapter. I'm pretty excited about this book. Anyway, love y'all!
