"Lia's on the site of that light?" Leila asked
"Yes, she's the one in charge of aerial watch for a while" Hannah answered
"What's going on? Are we clear?" another base one agent, Kobe Archel asked through the com
"BASE THREE WAS COMPROMISED!!!" base three commander, Caroline Aki reported in panic "I REPEAT, WE'RE COMPROMISED!!" *gun shots*
"Shit!" Leila huffed from the com "Ezekiel we need back up!" Leila ordered
"Copy that" another base two agent, Ezekiel Villendez answered
"LEILA BASE ONE'S COMPROMISED AS WELL!!" Hayden screamed from the com
"Kobe we need you here!!" Leila ordered
"Roger that!" Kobe answered
While everyone down at the beach side is in a rumble after being compromised, Lia stood frozen still in front of the body on the center of the circle mark, slowly her shaking legs finally made a move closer to the body and knelt beside it. The body is lying on its chest and she had to turn it over to see its face.
Lia's eyes widened as she saw that it's a man, a man she's most certainly familiar with, she knew this person as the one who attacked New York more than a year ago and plans to take over the world, he is known as earth's most dangerous criminal; The God of Mischief, Loki
Her breathing accelerates, she doesn't know what to do, she could hear her comrades voicing from her ear piece
"Lia! We need to back them up!" Hannah ordered "can you hear me?"
"Let's go to her!" Louis voiced out
Lia's eyes widened after hearing what Louie said, they're gonna come at her, they're gonna see Loki, what will she do?
"We need your back up Hannah!" Leila ordered "IMMEDIATELY!!!" she screamed the word
Lia was lost, she doesn't know what to do, Hannah and Louie are hurrying up to her position. Her right hand formed a fist and her left hand swiped over Loki's body creating an invisible forcefield over him, making him invisible.
Then Hannah and Louie arrived
"Lia!" Louie called, Lia flinched and turned around "what happened, why aren't you answering?" he asked in exasperation
"I..." Lia managed to say, but cut short after her mind went blank
"You what? We have been paging you multiple times! Base one and three needs back up!" Hannah said in frustration
"I'm sorry" Lia replied bowing her head
"What is this?" Louise asked as his gaze turned to the circle mark
"We have no time for that! The entire unit's been compromised, we need to move!" Hannah ordered sternly before hurrying down the hill. Louie followed suit
Lia remained there, she stared down at the body that is being covered by her invisible forcefied, she's gonna need to keep her mind focused on him or else she will tore his cover
"Lia! We need you down, NOW!!" Hannah shouted over the com
Lia winced, she immediately raced down the hill not tearing her focus out of Loki to keep his cover, and she rejoined her unit on a battle
1 hour later
The battled ended; the smugglers who stole their weapons and blueprints are being apprehended by the police while strike team Charlie is heading to their jets. Lia felt the most exhausted, as she had to fight dozens of smugglers and retrieving the crates while keeping her focus straight to Loki's shield, each bases has their own jets and base two are now entering their jet, Lia had kept Loki hidden from her comrades, none of them has a single clue that they are bringing a package with them
"Three missions in a week... ugh! So exhausting!" Louie whined
"I guess we deserve a break for this, let Bravo or Delta take care of the next ones" Hannah commented "we have no missions lined up in the next week aren't we?"
"Nope, we don't, and surely Bravo and Delta are gonna deal with their shits as we filled in their missions this week" Ezekiel answered "Delta team's back from the moon base anyway and Bravo has healed enough from their last mission"
"We really should have sent these weapons to the moon base" Louie said "people here are crazy!"
"They are just prototypes, Kobe was yet to check them on" Hannah said
"By the way, what gave you away?" Ezekiel asked
"You didn't see it?" Louie asked
"See what?"
"The light"
"What light?"
"The light that tore the heavens apart for God knows what reason"
At the mention of 'the light', Hannah turned her attention over Lia's direction and noticed she's utterly quiet
"Lia..." Hannah called "you are exceptionally quiet ever since we found you on the hill after that weird light hit, what happened?"
"Something to do with what you see earlier?" Louie asked
Lia switch her gaze on Louie and Hannah, she opened her mouth but no words came out, she appeared rather antsy and a little trembling, she looked away before she lowered her head
"Did something happen on the hill, Lia? The light landed exactly at your spot, what happened?" Hannah asked gently
Lia looked at Hannah with a blank face
"You can tell us, we're your teammates" Hannah gently cooed
"Nothing..." Lia answered casually "nothing happened on that hill when the light struck, I don't know what that is, I was startled myself"
The jet was quiet for a while
"1 minute ago you don't say a thing, now you actually said an entire sentence" Ezekiel playfully said "she might just be shocked of that weird light or whatever you're saying, I think she's fine, right?"
Lia broke a smile on her face, an innocent smile
"Yeah..." Lia agreed "yes, I'm fine, I'm just shocked from earlier, it's nothing" she finished before her hand discreetly and casually fell (intentionally) on the empty space beside her with her hand low-key paddled in the air seems to be patting someone's head. Her head then straightened and relaxed her back on the chair while her smile faded into a discreet smirk.
Hannah and Louie exchanged glances before focusing on piloting the jet back home.
