I sat quietly and professionally in front of my hopefully future employer. He read over my resumé looking impressed. I smiled to myself but I knew it was too good to be true. Nobody ever got what they wanted, especially me.
"I'm impressed. That's pretty good for a job listing, better even. Why would you want to work at a bar? Wait... weren't you that girl who came to this bar last night and got hammered in only a few minutes? And then continued on drinking for an hour." I looked down to my lap and smiled some more, realizing that it really was too good to be true. "You see, I do appreciate your taste for alcohol, but we can't exactly trust you to keep sober, now can we? I'm sorry but I can't give you this position for that very reason." He shot me an apologetic look and I simply thanked him for his time and walked out.
First job on the list crossed out. It was a short distance to the next one down, but there were only two jobs on the list that I could find nearby, bar included. The next one was Speedy's Sandwich Bar and Café. Across the street from my new apartment, very practical. Not my first choice but nobody ever does get their first option.
The chilly air wrapped around my body, going straight through my bones. The clouds were forming above me, they looked gray and heavy. As I walked inside the café I heard the rain start to fall behind me, meaning that I entered the place just in time to not get wet from the oncoming storm.
I went up to the bar and asked for her boss, I had called in earlier to tell them that I was coming in for a job interview and they had agreed. Sitting down with the woman in front of me I could tell how stressed she was. It seemed like she really needed help.
"Looking over your resumé... it's wonderful! Just what we need! You've even worked at a café before! You can make the drinks and everything! I've needed work for such a long time, ever since people found out that that Sherlock guy lives across the street they've been packing up the place."
"Haha I can tell, when I walked in there was an overwhelming amount of people." I smiled and tried my best to seem as professional as possible.
"I would love to hire you on the spot, but I do have to tell you some things. I'm going to have to put you in the coffee position, the people who make the sandwiches all don't know how to prepare the coffee so I end up having to perform the task, and there are too many people working food anyways. Is that okay? And do you have any other concerns about time?"
"It's perfectly fine for me to work coffee, I did used to work at a coffee bar! And I guess my one concern with time is that I can't really come in before 11:00, and other than that I can be on call whenever you need me. I live right across the street so it's easy to get here."
"NO WAY! You live with Sherlock Holmes? I never thought he was human enough to get a girlfriend!"
I blushed lightly, "Oh no, it's not like that. I live in the space next to him. Oh but speaking of him, he always wants to take me out on his cases or whatever, and I don't think that he understands the concept of me getting a job and not being able to..."
"Oh sweetie it's okay, if you ever call in saying that your on a case with him I'll be happy to takeover for you! I love the blog so I wouldn't mind, and we're about to get another new employee so I wont have you work all the time. Just whenever you call in make sure that I at least hear him speak once, just as a precaution."
"I completely understand. Thank you so much for your time. I can't wait to start working here."
"Oh me too! If you could give me your number or your phone so I can put mine in, I'll text you when we need you to start working, we don't have an exact schedule. I'll have you start in the next couple of days so you have some time before I get you out here!" She smiled sweetly at me as I handed her my phone. "Okay now I'll just text the number put in so that we're sure to have contact... and- oh. You just got a text. Don't worry I have your number now love, you're free to go!"
"Thank you so much, I'll see you soon then."
I walked out of the building and checked my messages. It was still raining outside so I stood under the umbrella cover connected to the storefront. The text message read:

Sherlock's passed out and in bed now.
Come over? We kinda need someone to watch him.
I have to go out and nobody else wants to do the job.
I'll owe you one if you can.
-John Watson

I quickly crossed the street trying my hardest to not get wet from the rain in the process. I ran into my flat and changed into dry warm clothes and went over to 221B. I walked up the stairs and caught John and some other man laughing in the living room.
"Hey John, I got your text, what exactly happened and what do you need?"
"Oh! Y/N you actually came... I though that with the whole shirtless Sherlock fiasco from earlier you would decide against it."
"I have literally nothing else to do. I already got my job sorted out so if I didn't do this I would be in bed watching Netflix for the rest of the day."
"Shirtless Sherlock... someone fill me in please!" The other man looked very confused.
"Ah! Lestrade, this is Y/N, Y/N this is Lestrade. He works at the Scotland Yard. And to answer your question, earlier today Sherlock was walking around naked and only wearing a sheet, and then he put on clothes but took off his shirt again... let's just say that it wasn't the greatest first impression on our new neighbor."
"Ha! Sounds like him... well no never mind, but I have to get going. I'm keeping this video as blackmail though!" Soon after he waved goodbye and left.
"So Y/N, earlier Sherlock was drugged by Irene Adler. He's passed out in bed, but she gave me a warning that he might choke on his vomit if he does so, and for that reason we need someone looking after him. I have other plans, I have a date. But if nobody was able to do it in place of me I would stay home to watch after him. Can you do it for me?"
"On three conditions. One: You give me some alcohol because I don't think I can last the night watching after him without any. Two: You allow me to use your fridge and stove to make some food because I haven't eaten all day. And three: Tell me how you got my number."
"Oh yea of course. Ms. Hudson has your number because you live here now, I just asked her for it and she agreed."
"Oh, okay then have fun on your date! Be warned it is raining outside." With that being said he thanked me and walked out of the flat, coat in hand. This was going to be a long night.
