I was finally coming home from college for the summer. Although I would have to come back in about a month to start training for dance, I was going to make sure that coming home would be fun. I’m really excited to see my brother, TJ Oshi. When I came home for winter and spring break he’d been on the road. I only got about an hour a day to see him because he was practicing and/or having a game that night.

I walked through the door with my dance duffle bag in hand. TJ ran up to me with a smile and a warm hug.

“I missed you, sis.” He said hugging me tighter.

“I missed you too.” I responded.

“I’m not letting you go back to college.”

“Then I’m not letting you play anymore games, home and away.” I laughed.

“You wouldn’t.”

“Try me.”

“Already bickering, I see.” My father said coming up to me.

I laughed and nodded before letting go of TJ and hugging him. TJ brought me up to my room which had stayed exactly the same since I left. Nobody had touched anything. I still had my senior study sheets from high school. I laughed and threw my duffle onto the bed.

“You must be exhausted.” My mom said coming into the room.

The last time I talked to her was on spring break, we didn’t leave on the best of terms. She didn’t want me to Dance anymore because there was no career for me with that. I argued back saying that there would be, but she kept saying that I should study and work towards real careers.

I stood there awkwardly and shook my head.

“No, I’m okay.” I replied.

“Well, if you would get into something nice, for once, we’re going out.” She barked.

I nodded and she walked out.

“Damn, I’m sorry. I remember you telling me about the fight, but I didn’t know it was this bad.” TJ said.

“It shouldn’t have been.”

“I’m on your side, by the way.”

“With what?”

“Dance, you are good at it. You should keep doing it and not care what mom thinks about it. She didn’t want me to play hockey because she thought it was a pointless thing to do and I wouldn’t get a career in hockey, but look where I am now, playing with the Blues.”

“Ah the blues,” I thought, “The most vicious team in the NHL.” Instead I just nodded and smiled.
