Test of Faith

Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly." Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, "Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us." He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel." The woman came and knelt before him. "Lord, help me!" she said. He replied, "It is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to the dogs." "Yes it is, Lord," she said. "Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master's table." Then Jesus said to her, "Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted." And her daughter was healed at that moment. (Matthew 15:22-28)

-Nang humingi ng tulong ang babae, Hindi agad sumagot si Jesus. Matapos ay nag-udyok ang isang deciple na paalisin na ang babae, saka sumagot si Jesus that He was sent only for the lost sheep of Israel. Di po ba noon na ang Isaraelites ang pinakamamahal na tao ng Diyos. All the prophets of God came from Israel. Sina Abraham, Isaac and Israel, and ang mga sumunod pa. Many of them there are believers and faithful servants of the One True God. Pero taga Canaan ang babaeng ito na nagmakaawa, isa ang kanaan na may mga naninirahan na sumasamba sa diyos-diyusan. ibig sabihin hindi ito kabilang sa nasasakupang lost sheep ng Isarael. At nang magpumilit ang babae, Sabi ni Lord na hindi tamang ang tinapay na dapat o nakalaan na sa anak ay ibigay sa aso. Meaning hindi tamang ang nakalaan na salvation or grace for (God's people, God's children) Israel ay ibibigay sa iba. Hindi pala talaga kinilalang kauri ang bansa maliban sa Israel. But siguro because the woman ask for the Lord help and even called Him Lord. Might be, the Lord was amused kasi natahimik muna siya bago sumagot sa babae na He was sent only for the lost sheep of Israel. But she persisted, plead and knelt. And hindi po longid sa atin na the Lord has always compassion to the people. He came down from heaven to stop the distress of the people. The Lord test her faith, if she truly acknowledge Jesus as the Lord and Savior. Or to whom she really serve.

And she answered, "Yes it is, even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master's table."

Ibig niyang sabihin kahit ang aso ay kumakain ng mga maliliit nahuhulog na pagkain mula sa kanilang Master. Kahit pa katiting of grace and salvation mula kay Jesus, the woman really hope for it. And it means that He really have faith and acknowledge the Lord Jesus as her Master/Lord and Savior. Wow! Great faith po talaga. Kaya walang pagdadalawang isip na ibinigay ni Lord ang request niya. Amazing! Hallelujah!

Lesson,

Is we should know to whom we ask for help, and who do we really serve and called Master. Only God knows inside our hearts and mind. Even a little hope, kahit gamonggo pa, as long as our faith ay matibay, malawak at totoong bukal sa ating kalooban. Walang ngang impossible kay Jesus. His mercy and love hindi masusukat ni walang nakakaalam. Hindi rin nababawasan. God loves us to ask anything from Him. He want to know sometimes kung gaano tayo ka desidido o gustong-gusto ang bagay na hinihinge natin. And the best thing po na laging nating tatandaan, that the power of prayer is boundless, limitless, walang sukat at di masusukat. Gano'n rin po ang faith. Faith is also unbounded itself. The Lord God work through our faith.

Sabi nga sa Holy Scripture,

"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him."(Hebrews 11:6 NIV)

He is an Infinite God. And if our faith is boundless, He can also work limitless. Kaya nga po yung babaeng taga-Canaan sa Bible binigay ang request niya dahil sa great faith the meron siya. Kaya po tayo, let's not stop hoping. Let's keep our faith deep, strong and wide.

Prayer:

Jesus, we thank you for Your love and compassion. Thank You for saving us at laging N'yo po kaming napapagtagumpayan. I pray na sana'y palalimin at pagtibayin N'yo pa po ang faith na meron kami. That we only know and always focos on You. As You say that no one can come to the Father except through You. Make us always open to Your unbound and limitless universe. Sayo at Sayo lamang po. For you are the only way, the truth and the life. We ask for Your Holy Spirit to consume us and make us always open to Your words so we become like You. This we ask and thanks, Amen.
