"So..." you say, attempting to break the uncomfortable silence that had swept over the room after May had left.

Peter looked up at you, his gorgeous, deep, brown eyes meeting yours once again.

"Would you like to come in?" You offer, spreading your arms and gesturing to your living room.

"I-" peter began to respond but was interrupted by a buzz.

He pulled his phone out of the pocket of his jeans, looking down, reading the message.

"Hey I'm really sorry," he says, not making eye contact "but I gotta go"

"Okay..." you say, but before you can ask why he was gone.

You sigh, walking over to your couch, kicking off your heels. You sit down, flicking through the movies prerecorded on your tv. You pick one, and let it play in the background as you look at your phone. You scroll though the texts on the screen, from old friends wishing you luck in Queens or wishing that you could be back home with them. You reply to all of them, sending your love. Then you come across a different one, a message from Callum, your ex boyfriend. You had dated for a few months but broke up with him once you discovered you were moving. He had been heartbroken, but also angry, you hadn't spoken to him since. You think about it for a moment, hesitating to open the message. You sigh, deciding that whatever he said couldn't make how you felt any worse. You were wrong:

Y/ᑎ I ᕼᗩTE YOᑌ, I ᕼᗩTE ᗯᕼᗩT YOᑌ ᗪIᗪ TO ᗰE ᗩᑎᗪ ᕼOᗯ YOᑌ ᒪEᖴT ᗰE ᗯᕼEᑎ I ᗪIᗪ ᑎOTᕼIᑎG ᗷᑌT ᒪOᐯE YOᑌ, YOᑌ'ᖇE ᗩ ᗰOᑎᔕTEᖇ! I ᗯIᔕᕼ ᗯE ᕼᗩᗪ ᑎEᐯEᖇ ᗰET!

You stare at the screen for a while, watching it become blurrier and blurrier as tears began to well up in your eyes. You cried. How could he not understand? How could he not realise how hard this was for you? How could he believe that it was only him who was hurting?

You looked at the time, only now realising how late it was. How long had you been crying? You got up, walking into your room and changing to a pair of pjs. You climb into be and turn out the light.

"Tomorrow is going to be a good day" you try to convice yourself but you couldn't stop thinking about the text from Callum.

Will your new school in Queens be anything like this?
