"You're my best friend..."-JM

I woke up to beeping sounds. I was a little groggy and my body felt sore and weak. I could barely move.

What the hell happened? I ask myself looking around to see four white walls.

"Ugh..." I groan trying to move.

"Hey... Take it easy Jay..." A deep raspy voice says.

I look to see Jason standing beside me, his hand in mines.

"J-Jason?" I ask, my voice hoarse from my dry mouth and throat.

"Yeah. It's me." He smiles.

"W-why... Why are you... Here?" I ask. He frowns a little. And I suddenly feel awful.

"N-not t-that I-"

"It's okay. I know it seems weird but... I had to come and make sure you were okay." He says.

"B-but w-why?" I ask.

"Because... You're my best friend."

My heart sinks a little. Don't ask me why. It just did.

"Y-yeah..." I mumble looking down.

"You okay?" He asks rubbing my shoulder. I turn my head away, trying to avoid his stare.

"Um... Y-yeah I'm fine." I stammer. Just then the doctor walks in.

"Well hello ms. Grace." He says walking in with his clip board.

"Hello." I cough.

"How are you feeling at the moment?" He asks a smile on his face.

"Um... Sore... And I can barely move." I wince.

"Oh I see. And you are young man?" He asks Jason.

"I'm Jason." He introduces himself, shaking the doctor's hand.

"Oh. Are you her boyfriend?" He asks parting from the handshake.

"I wish." I say softly, but regret it when Jason widens his eyes at me.

"Uh no. I'm her friend." He says swallowing hard.

"Oh. Okay. Well you can stay if you want." He says, sitting in the chair.

"Okay. Thanks." Jason smiles.

"So... What's wrong with me doc?" I ask trying to ease the tension, sitting up a little.

"Well... Journey you're anemic. And because of this and your heavy cycle it causes you to lose a lot of blood."

"So... What do you suggest?" I ask.

"Well... We usually suggest a DNC. But you're a virgin and that seems impossible. But..."

"But what?" I ask.

"We'll give you a few weeks. To see how things go. If you fall out again due to your cycle, we'll make plans to have you a DNC. Okay?"

"Okay. Thanks I guess." I mumble.

"You're welcome. Take care of her Jason." He asks.

"I'll try." Jason says as the doctor walks out the door.

Jason sits in the chair, staring up at me in confusion.

"What?" I ask.

"You're anemic?"

"Yeah? So?" I huff, laying back on the bed.

"Journey this is serious." He says in a different tone.

"Like I didn't know that."

"Journey, would you stop with your smart ass mouth?" He snaps, raising his voice. I jump back, widening my eyes. What the fuck is wrong with him?

"S-sorry." I mumble, looking down at my hands.

He takes a breath. "I'm sorry. I-i d-didn't mean to snap at you."

I shrug my shoulders, too hurt to really says anything.

I'm sensitive. Sue me.

"I'm just worried about you." He says his voice a little softer now.

"You barely know me Jason. And I barely know you." I say not looking at him.

"That's why I wanted to take you to the park."

My stomach turns a few flips. "I don't I can go with you tonight."

"I figured you'd say that. Don't worry. We can go another say."

"N-no. I m-mean... D-don't you think it'd be weird taking me to the park instead of... Your girlfriend?" I ask looking up at him slightly. And I noticed that his face changed from hopeful to sad.

"O-oh... Yeah. Well... I would take her, but she hates the outdoors." He says, his voice a little sad.

"Is she good to you Jason?" I ask.

"She's... Okay." He mumbles.

"Just okay?" I ask.

"Yeah... Just okay." His face was so sad. And he seemed so... Depressed?

"Well... Glad you're happy." I say cracking a fake smile in my goofy fashion, which makes him laugh.

"You should rest, goof ball." He chuckles.

"Yeah. I should. But-"

"No butts madam." He snaps getting up to help me lay back.

"You will lay in this bed, and you won't lift a finger. Ya hear?" He says sounding like my grandma.

"Yes sir." I mumble looking over my sheets.

He kisses my forehead rubbing the spot before sitting back down.

"A-are you going to leave?" I ask.

"Nope. Not unless you want me to."he rasps.

"I-I don't want you to." I admit.

"Then I won't. Now Shh. And go to sleep."

I sigh, closing my eyes. I feel him grab my hand pressing his lips to the back. I smile at the feel of his soft lips on my skin.

And before I knew it, I was asleep.

(A/n: trying not to cry as I wrote these chapters.

Although most of this stuff did not happen, the feeling I'm writing about are real.
