Hey, there, reader! If you've gotten this far, let me be the first to officially welcome you to Grabbing Hold! I'm McKenzie, the author, resident Bajan, food enthusiast and avid Wattpadder.  On Wattpad, I mostly go by Mack, so you can call me that :-)

It's a pleasure to meet you, and thank you for taking the time to give this story a chance. It's truly appreciated. I truly hope you enjoy the characters and the storyline as much as I do.

Which leads me to a couple guidelines which are designed to make this a fun and safe environment for all of us:

1) This novel is a work in progress. Things may seem to pick up quickly in the more recent chapters, and there may be massive plot holes which require explanation. That's because I made some pretty big changes to parts of the storyline which will be incorporated during the editing process, which will occur only after I finish the novel. That said, if there's anything that' confusing, feel free to comment or PM me :-)

2) This novel deals with serious/potentially triggering topics, including alcoholism, abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), divorce, war, mental health issues and mild racism/xenophobia. I have given you fair warning, and I won't say "don't read if you don't like it", because I write this book with the intention of confronting things society doesn't like to acknowledge or deal with. It's important to pop the bubble of a "perfect world" every once in a while. I hope this doesn't scare you off. There will be a 'TRIGGER WARNING' sign at the start of potentially difficult chapters.

3) The comments are a McKenzie-designated safe space. I love reading and replying to comments, not just because of feedback but because you guys can be quite entertaining when you want to be, and I'm never bored. That said, you are free to express your opinions and feelings in the comments. Please be respectful, self-aware, and remember the difference between constructive criticism and practically dragging someone else's hard work. I'm a person too :-)

4) Do. Not. Steal. My. Work. I promise, I'm black, grown and from the Caribbean. I will find you, and I will whoop your tail till you cry for your mother. Seriously though, don't plagiarize, and don't steal people's work. Writers put a lot of effort into their craft :-)

Thanks for reading this little introduction! I hope you guys enjoy Grabbing Hold, and I'll see you very soon!

Yours sincerely,

Mack :-)
