Behind Blue Eyes-Loki

Start from the beginning

After several hours of drinking, I escorted Loki back to his room.  I supposed I'd had more than I should have, because I started an actual conversation with him.

    "Your Highness?"

Loki looked at me quizzically.  "Yes?"

"Why did you do it?  Try to take over Midgard?  Why do you constantly do things you know will get you into trouble?"

He looked a bit off-put for a moment.  As we approached his bedroom door, he moved toward me, pressing me against the cold metal.  I wasn't sure if it was the alcohol or the fact that he had never been so close to me before.  I actually noticed things about him I hadn't before.  His sharp facial features, including a stunning pair of ice-blue eyes.  My breath caught for a moment.

"I suppose, (Y/n), that when you spend your whole life in a lie, you try and find a way to prove yourself."  He was a breath's distance from my face now.  "I spent my whole life feeling as if I had the power to do anything...only to find I was only a pawn.  No one knows what it's like to be the bad man...to be the sad man.  But I'm seeing now that I only really wanted to have power over one thing..."

I would have rolled my eyes if I hadn't been so entranced by his.  I looked up at him, attempting to regain my self-control.

He continued raking his gaze over me, running a hand through my hair and looking my face up and down to gauge my response. "I have seen how you watch me when I dress, or when I come out of the bath.  And I saw you tonight, carrying on and enjoying yourself.  You do know how to have fun, don't you?"

"You have no power over me, Loki."

He looked at me with a sly smirk.  "Are you sure about that, darling?"

I stood there like a rabbit in a trap for a moment.  Then his lips touched mine with feather-light pressure.  He pulled his face away, and a whimper escaped my throat involuntarily.  He was right.  In the weeks I'd been watching over him, I'd been actually watching him.  How couldn't I?  He may be Asgard's most wanted, but he was still attractive as hell.

My heart was racing and I wasn't quite sure what to do.  I was convinced this had to be one of his tricks, but I hoped for one moment that he was being genuine.  "Loki, I..."

He didn't give me a chance to answer.  His second kiss was an assault on my lips and my senses, kicking any sense I may have had straight to the curb.  I reached up and twisted my fingers into his dark hair, tugging slightly.  He made a slight mewling sound and reached around me to open the bedroom door, pushing me in.

The next morning, I woke up in a tangle of sheets, arms and legs.  Oh...crap.  I was looking at Loki's sleeping face and cursed myself.  I was going to be in trouble.

I heard a knock on Loki's door and a young servant stepped in, carrying a tray of food for the prince.  As she backed in the doorway, she was unaware that I was in the bed with Loki.

"Your Highness, I'm not seeing Lady (Y/n) outside your room-oh."  When she turned and saw me naked and wrapped in a sheet, she curtsied quickly.  "Lady (Y/n), my apologies, miss, I didn't know you'd be joining His Highness for breakfast."

I got up and started to grab my clothes.  "I'm not, Lyssa.  But I'd thank you to not speak of what you've just seen."  With a nod, Lyssa left the room and I felt a tug at the sheet. "Loki...this was a mistake."  I started to dress and left the room, unsure of my fate.

After having my breakfast in the hall, a guard approached me with a message from the Allfather.  I read the small note.  I require your presence in my chambers immediately. Crap.

I went to the King's chamber where he sat with Queen Frigga and looked none too happy.

"You do know why you're here, Lady (Y/n)?"

"I believe I may, Your Majesty."

Odin walked up to me and placed a hand on my shoulder.  "I've placed a terrible burden on you, watching over Loki for the past month.  I believe it may be time for you to be relieved of your duties.  Loki has been acting well enough to not need followed day and night.  You may resume your previous post with Lady Sif.

I was shocked.  I thought I was in trouble for what had happened the previous night, but here I was being rewarded for looking after Loki.  I smiled and bowed to the Allfather.  "Thank you, Sire.  I am honored to return to service as a warrior."

Frigga walked up to me and gave me a gentle hug.  She whispered in my ear, "I know what's happened.  Don't fret, dear.  My son cares for you.  Now that you're no longer his shadow, maybe you can tell him how you really feel?"

I turned around to see Loki standing there, smiling.  "Lady (Y/n), would you care to take a walk with me?"  He held out an arm and I took it, letting him lead me out of the chamber and to a happy life.
