When she came in,
Every head turned towards her presence,
A statute of grace,
A figure of elegance,
Some eyes filled with awe,
And some with amazement,
Others, they looked at her with envy
And tried to conceal their contempt.
Her smile was breathtakingly warm,
And her aura was humble,
Even in glass slipper with pointed heels,
Never did she stumble,
They looked up to her
And called her the well-groomed daughter,
To marry her, To keep her for a lifetime,
Men could slay and slaughter,
They labeled her as the milestone
Of their made-up societal expectations,
She was simply called,
The emblem of perfection,
And then, in an unexpected moment,
Her eyes met mine,
In them was an unexpected scenery,
Because all I saw frozen waterfalls of brine,
Behind the gold rim of her irises,
Her eyes were all gloomy grey,
In which lied a sweater of dreams,
That was now, sadly, fray,
There was a little girl
Wearing that worn out sweater,
Her beautiful mind, chained and unexplored,
Deserved much, much better.
She was screaming at me,
Telling me not to follow her heed,
Bellowing the stories of her shattered dreams,
And repressed yearnings at the end of her lead,
Showing me the reality,
Of the so called perfection,
That was actually a torturous delusion,
A misunderstood perception,
It was nothing but a world of lies,
Telling me that Perfection was a tyrant,
Whose empire was solely built upon muffled sobs and cries,
That swallowed and devoured on everything that was vibrant,
As after an eternity, our eyes disconnected,
And for her now, I could only muster sympathy,
I could still hear the silent screams,
And suddenly, down crashed the truth of my miserable destiny,
She was a broken doll, whose insides will forever be aching,
In the industry of expectations and perfection,
Just like her, I was in the making of breaking,
Powered by a conventional deception.
