James PoV

I'm not sure what exactly I am doing. I'm just staring at her and there's something inside me that wanted to inch closer. I'm afraid it's too soon and that will ruin everything. I closed my eyes to stop myself from doing it.

"Let's get inside, Lily." I finally said, softly.

"Yeah, it's getting late." She said instantly and jerked from her seat.

"Lily."

"Hmm..." As she started walking.

"Can I hold your hand?" I asked and she faced me with a faint red face as she nodded.

"Your fingers are still tiny next to mine," I commented as I intertwined our fingers.

Her hand was warm just like mine. I miss holding her hands just like we used to be ten years ago.

"James, what are we doing?" Lily asked while staring at our locked hands.

"Did it bother you? I'm sorry for holding it." I said and about to unlock my hand from her but she held it still.

"Come on, I think it's about to rain." She said and a rain dropped my forehead.

"I told you!" She added and tugged my arm as she's running.

I'm behind her, smiling. She was a beautiful sight. I was in that thought when she stops.

"Oops." As I tried to balance myself.

"You're always like that." She commented trying to hide her giggle. Yes, I was always like that because I kept on staring at her back while we are on run.

"James, I'm glad that we finally talked and settle everything. And I'm very happy that my friend is back." She said with a bright smile, enough for me to feel the same.

"I exactly feel the same, Lily." I just said.

"Goodnight, James." She said and about to take her hand from mine but I tugged it.

"Goodnight, Lily," I said softly as I gave her a tender kiss.

A kiss on her cheek.

I was surprised by my action but it was too late to take it back.

"Let's get inside." I was the one breaking the silence. I can't afford to look at her face again as I don't know what I can do with her when I do.

My cheek where he kissed is still burning. It was a simple, goodnight kiss yet the effect was too much. I can't sleep as I'm just rolling on my bed for hours already.

"Please, let me sleep. I have things to do with Natasha tomorrow!" I groaned with frustration.

I headed the kitchen to fill my empty pitcher and the sight of James sitting on the table making my body to be fully awake, it's impossible to sleep in the next hour.

"Can't sleep?" I asked, wondering if it's because of his action earlier.

"Oh, hey." His face brightened seeing my face.

"I'm looking for a piece of the puzzle of trying to connect. Remember the only one that we have? I found them in the stock room earlier." He said and almost smacked myself. It was the puzzle then.

"I have it," I said as I remember the piece I kept in my wallet all this time.

"You have it?" He asked happily and I nodded.

We then both headed to my room for the piece of the puzzle. Later, I realized inviting him into my room is not a good idea. There's something inside my stomach I couldn't understand the moment he is there with me, space seems tiny for two people to breathe. I nervously searched for my wallet as I wanted him to get out of my room.

I'm afraid for this strange feeling to be stronger that will kill me soon.

"Here!" I said loudly then searched for the piece. Once found, I immediately handed it to him.

"A piece that will complete me." He said, but only he was looking at me.

"Why don't you come to my room and take a look at it?" He said.

I really like to take a look but my sane self is against the idea, me in his room.

"I'm sorry but I really need to sleep, James." I declined and I did not fail to see his initial reaction before giving me a smile.

"It's okay, Lily. I think I'm already asking and done too much for tonight." He said which gave my heart a sudden flutter as I remembered exactly, what he just did that too much for me.
