Run! My wolf Adira screamed inside my head. I can feel them getting closer. Please keep moving Ari. You are almost off his territory. You are almost safe. Just don't stop.

Fear made my chest tighten even more then the running already had. I didn't spend hours pulling nails out of my window to get caught just before I hit the border. I almost started crying out of fear but the sight of the road ahead made Adira yip with joy.

That is the border Ari! You're almost free!

Adrenaline pumped through my veins as the last 100 yards came closer. I could feel the wolves behind me literally nipping at my ankles trying to trip me. As soon as I stepped foot onto the road I felt a rush of joy but also a sense of warning meaning I had stepped onto another's territory. Suddenly I felt the canines of a wolf sink into my ankle. I screamed in agony as I was pulled backwards with a sharp crack ringing through the air. Fear replaced pain as I was pulled back towards the Blood Moon Pack's land. Panic rushed through my body. I couldn't go back. I wouldn't go back. I started to claw and kick everything around me and smiled at the satisfying sound of a jaw being broken. Using the distraction I kicked off the remaining wolves and made my run for it well...my limp for it really. Looking back I could see the wolves gaining on me. Suddenly I slammed into a hard brick wall. I fell back onto the ground and all the oxygen was pushed out of my lungs.

"Owww..."I groaned rolling onto my stomach trying to catch my breath. Slowly I pushed myself off the ground.

"What are you doing on this land?" A voice growled behind me. My eyes widened as I slowly turned to see the possibly buffest man I had seen in my entire life standing over me with a scowl on his face. He had his very muscular arms crossed over his very muscular chest. Before I could answer a very familiar voice spoke up behind me.

"This Mutt is ours." I turned to see Markus, the beta of Blood Moon, glaring at me. Fear racked through my body at the thought of going back. I hadn't realized how much I was shaking until I felt a hand on my shoulder. I jumped and turned to see the guy from before looking at me with a concerned expression on his face. I could see his lips moving but I heard nothing. I was pulled out of my panic when the guy started slightly shaking me.

"Are you alright?" He asked concerned.

"She will be fine! Now give her to me pup!" Markus snarled. I flinched and looked at the man silently pleading him not to send me back.

"Please don't make me go back." I whispered in a panic. The man nodded and his eyes darkened.

"You will exit this land immediately! My Alpha is on his way and won't be so lenient if he finds you still here." He said in a cold tone that made even me shiver. I could tell by his tone he was also a Beta.

"We will leave when we have the girl." Markus growled stepping forward. Suddenly I was pushed backwards as a growl ripped through the air.

"YOU WILL LEAVE NOW WITHOUT THE GIRL OR YOU WILL BE KILLED!" The man snarled at the wolves. Most of them lowered their ears and looked torn between leaving and following Markus. Finally after minutes of uneasy silence Markus backed off and began waving the wolves away.

"We will be back for the girl. My Alpha wants her back and will stop at nothing to get her. Let this be your warning pup." Markus said turning in the opposite direction. "See you soon Sweetheart." He added with a laugh. I closed my eyes and sank to the ground. As the sound of paw beating against the ground faded my exhaustion and pain seeped into my body. I leaned against a tree and smiled. I was free. After nine long years of torture I was finally free. My vision became blurred as darkness began to wrap itself around me like a thick blanket. Just before I gave into it, a beautiful black wolf burst through the trees into the clearing. One look and I knew.

"Mate." I whispered as the darkness pulled me under.
