Haragopal returned to where Sara lay, nay sat, still terribly groggy, with a bottle of soda. Sara's eyes were dilated and she sat still as a mannequin. The deafening ring in her ears made her headache feel much worse and spasms of pain swept through her head.

"Here, child," Haragopal said as he sat next to her with his legs crossed in front of him, "drink some soda. That should make you feel better." Sara turned slowly and took the bottle from Haragopal, her sullen eyes exuding gratitude to whatever extent they could. Haragopal smiled a warm-hearted smile and gestured her to go on.

As Sara sat sipping on the soda, Haragopal let his hand drift into his kurta's pocket. He took the phone out carefully without anyone noticing. He wanted to return the phone to her, but without appearing like a thief and leave quickly before the law enforcement officers got there.

Haragopal had called the Law Enforcement Office before buying her a soda and the operator duly put him through to Burphy.

While he waited for Sara to finish drinking the soda, he thought of how he and his wife ended up becoming man and wife.
