No wonder I woke up early. I fell asleep in jeans.

I grabbed my pillow and put it in between me and Jonathan.

I slipped out of his grip.

I nearly bursted out laughing when I saw him hug the pillow and smile wide.

I went to my room and change into a pair of leggings and a t-shirt.

I went downstairs quietly and saw Quincey asleep on the couch.

I saw his ears twitch as I sat down next to him.

He yawned and rested his heads on my lap.

"Why are you up so early?" He asked.

"I wasn't tired anymore."

He jumped off the couch and stretched.

"Well if we're going to be awake we might as well be productive. Go get that book of yours."

"How do you know about that?"

"I heard some people talking about it."

"How much did you hear?"

"Everything. Now I know why I have a connection with you. Now go get your book."

"I don't know where it is. I ran out yesterday reading it, then I fell asleep."

He tilted his head. "Do you know that stone thing of yours is glowing?"

"What?" I looked down at my stone. It was glowing.

It lead me to where my book was.

Still in the same place as it was yesterday.

I grabbed it and went back downstairs.

"Let's go outside." Said Quincey.

We both walked outside and sat down in the middle of the yard.

I sat down the book in front of me.

Quincey used his snout to flip through the pages.

"Can you read it?" I asked.

"Yep. Try this." He pointed to a page with his paw at the back of the book.

"What's this?" I grabbed the book and read it.

It was a spell.

To conjure up fruit.

"You want me to make fruit?" I asked. "You know we could just to the supermarket."

"Look this is the perfect starter spell. You will eventually need to learn bigger spells."

"Still. I don't think I can do this."

"Just read what it says and try."

I sighed and read. "Fructus facere repetere quid cupio. Mango, pepo, pupilliam, musa sapientum fixa, fraquam."

We waited but nothing happened.

"Try again." Said Quincey. "But this time try imagining the fruit. Or try feeling your connection to nature to make the fruit."

I put my hand on the ground and closed my eyes. "Fructus facere repetere quid cupio. Mango, pepo, pupilliam, musa sapientum fixa, fraquam."

I opened my eyes and looked at the ground.

A small plant began to grow from the ground and soon an Apple appeared from it.

I smiled as I picked it.

The plant disappeared and went back into the ground.

"It worked." I smiled as I took a bite of the apple. "And it's ripe!"

"See you could do it." Quincey gave me a wolfy smile. "Try a different fruit."

I closed my eyes and did it again.

I felt arms go around me as I cut up some apples.

"What are you making?" Jonathan asked.

"Fruit salad." I smiled.

"How did you get this much fruit?"

"Um, the store." I lied.

"And where did you get the money for it?"

"Uh, sale?" I said but it sounded like a question.

"I know when your lying."

"Ok, so, inthebackofmybookthere wasspellsandItrieditouttogrow

salad." I said quickly.

"What? Slow down."

"In. The. Back. Of. My. Book--"

"I'll now speed up a little bit."

"Make up your mind. Do you want me to talk fast or talk slow!?"

"Just tell me."

"No."

"Come on!"

"Alright! Fine! I grew it."

"Well, that's normal. But how did you grow it so fast."

"No! Not like that. There was a spell that allowed me to grow fruit."

"That's so weird."

"That's exactly why I didn't want to tell you."

"I could never judge you. It's a good kind of weird."

"That doesn't even make sense."

"Well, it makes sense to me."

I rolled my eyes and continued to make the fruit salad.

"Jonathan?" I asked.

"Yeah?"

"Why did you bite me yesterday?"
