Chapter 5: Tell Me a Lie

Start from the beginning

"No! STOP! My leg!"

If they kept me down, my leg would get crushed. I didn't want my leg crushed. It hurt a lot whenever my leg was run over. I didn't appreciate it.

I squirmed and shimmied to try and find an escape. My arms flailed around, slapping people at random. I didn't recognize the people who stood around me. I couldn't differentiate the people. My vision was jacked up. I couldn't tell how many people were grasping me.

"Miss Parks, calm down." A stern voice sounded out. It was the voice of a woman. I didn't know the woman's voice. I couldn't see who the voice was coming from. How did she know my name?

I didn't know her name!

I don't know you! "AAAHHH! STOP! Let me go! I have to move!" I screeched and kept trying to wriggle free.

"Luce! You have to calm down now!"

"HARRY! Harry help me!" I saw Harry trying to calm my legs by grasping my ankles. Why was he trying to pin me too? What about my leg?

"Luce, you need to calm down, or the doctors are going to have to calm you down forcefully!"

"Harry, I have to move! My leg! It's pinned! I don't want it do get hurt again! It hurts so much when that happens!"

"I know, Luce, I know! Your leg is safe, it's not gonna get hurt again! You have to stop fighting!"

"IT IS GONNA GET HURT AGAIN IF I DON'T MOVE! IF I GET HURT I WON'T BE ABLE TO DANCE!"

"Sweetheart, calm down!"

"MOM!"

"Alright, we have to inject her!" I saw a man holding a very large needle near my leg. What was he doing? Stop!

"No! Don't! MOM!"

Then, I froze.

And the lights went out again.

I had a dreamless sleep. I heard the beeping noise again. It was very annoying. The fucking beep just kept going and going. It didn't stop. It was steady and consistent.

Never changing. I like change. I like to mix things up. Have new experiences.

Although, I guess your heart rate is something you don't want to change. You want it to keep going and going. You don't want it to stop. You want it to be steady and consistent.

I tried to shift into a more comfortable position, but my body was stiff. I felt cold metal against my wrists and right ankle. I also felt resistance against my waist.

I forced my eyelids open and peered around the room. Harry was asleep on the chairs once again. My mom sat reading a People magazine, my dad watched some crappy daytime television show, Luke and Logan crashed cars together on the floor, and Olivia sketched.

Harry was right, she was acting very quiet. Usually when she sketched, she thought out loud. She spoke what she was feeling and what inspired her while she was drawing. That's what makes her such a great fashion designer.

I rotated my head to look out the window in my room. Dani resided outside rambling to Liam. She looked flustered and concerned.

She laid her head in her hands for a minute, and Liam hugged her and rubbed her back soothingly. I want that. Not Liam, no. He was like a brother to me. I want someone like that.

Someone to hug me and rub my back when I'm upset. I mean I've had boyfriends before, but they were never like that.

Liam let her go, and she glanced through the window at me. When she noticed I was awake, she jumped up and sprinted into the room. "Lucy, honey! I'm so glad your okay!"
