Surreptitious

"Ana behind you!" – That's the last thing I heard before blackness enclosed me.

I woke up with a gasp as I looked around confused. My hands were tied behind my back so was my legs. My lips were concealed with a black tape thus the reason behind my numb lips. My head was pounding hard and everything looked blurry as I tried to take a clear look.

A girl lying unconscious facing the wall on the other side of the room caught my attention through my blurry eyes. I blinked my eyes several times before I finally started to see things clearly. It was a dusty old room with several sand bags around and the girl who was finally waking up turned towards me making my eyes go wide. Suddenly a sharp pain shot through my head and my eyes were closed hastily on their own before the memories from last night came rushing back to me.

My best friend Colton and I were having our usual Friday movie night. We usually watch it at home but since today was the last of school before summer, we thought we would celebrate it by going out.

"Told you it was going to be a good one. Tell me you loved it, bow down to my presence and say "Oh Your Majesty, I'm terribly sorry. From now on your wish is my command" he said in a fake British accent while acting it out. "yeah right, in your dreams loser" I laughed rolling my eyes. "Stop gloating coly. This was just a one-time thing alright...but maybe if you behave I might let you choose sometime again that is of course only if I feel like it" – I said playfully.

His smile dropped when I said coly, "I told you not to call me that, it's embarrassing" he said making puppy eyes. I laughed shoving his shoulder, "that's the point, you goofus". He laughed too before replying – "Alright Ms. Micah, two can play at this game" he said emphasizing on the Micah. I scowled before I playfully reached forward to punch him on the shoulder. But before I could someone beat me to it punching him in the face making his nose bleed. I screamed "Colton" as I rushed over to him, but as I was bending down to help him, I felt a rough hand go around my waist pulling me back and a small handkerchief placed over my nose. I heard Colton screaming in the back "Ana, behind you" with his eyes wide open, but alas his warning was too late and Colton's horror filled face was the last thing I saw before my eyes closed.
