Episode 17 - Decision

There's no reason to be nervous.

You're just gonna say that your ex is your boss. Yun lang.

Clearing my throat, I start, "Um, V?"

Huminto siya sa pagsubo at tumingin sa akin.

"What is it?" He asks concerned.

I squirm uncomfortably and look at him. "About the new boss."

He tilts his head, confused. "Yeah? What about him?"

I bite my lip to stop myself from saying anything unnecessary and take a deep breath.

He, of all people should know. He's my boyfriend.

I look at him and say, "He's Kieth."

Silence envelops us as realisation hit V.

And I make myself clear by adding. "Kieth Rodriguez, the man who I saw at the restaurant that day and the one you saw in front of my apartment."

"Huh" He exhales after the long silence. "So Rodriguez pala last name niya. Small world."

Tumango lang siya at nagshrug na parang wala at kinuha ulit ang kutsara.

I tilt my head in confusion. "Yun lang? You're not gonna ask me anything? If you don't like it then I can quit."

Hindi ko na naisip na i-filter ang mga salita ko.

Tumingin siya ulit sa akin, "What? Why? Kasi ex at first love mo siya?"

Nagulat ako sa tono ng boses niya na may halong spite.

Right. Hindi niya alam kung ano talaga ang nangyari sa amin dalawa. Hindi niya alam ang totoong rason kung bakit kami naghiwalay. He thinks that Kieth cheated on me.

Actually, we both don't know the exact details about each other's past love life and how we were heartbroken.

We both didn't want to talk about it and just left the subject untouched and didn't dig in any further.

Seeing that I didn't reply, V sighs and looks at me with gentle eyes. "Sorry. I didn't mean to sound mad." He smiles.

Having lost my appetite, I lower my eyes at the food.

I know you didn't mean it V.

Ako nga tong may kasalanan sa'yo. Ako ang dapat mag-sorry.

Narinig ko siyang ang nag-sigh ulit. He took my hand in his.

"Thanks for telling me. It must have been hard. Kung ayaw mo manatili sa kumpanya, you can always quit but it's up to you to decide. Alam ko na you're being considerate and I'm thankful that you thought of my feelings first. Pero hindi ako ang dapat magdesisyon para sa'yo, Mira. Do what you think is right and I'll support you."

I look up to see V smiling at me.

Nawala na ang hint of hostility as boses niya and I can tell that he's back to his usual cheerful self.
