FRIDAY MARCH 2ND, 2018
I step out of my car and am immediately hit with a cool breeze. It's been a while since the last time Hobi and I reminisced, and as always, I had...mixed feelings? I always admired him and his social ability, and he always refused his popularity, but the fact that everyone knew him proved otherwise. But there's always a limit to how much you can be happy for someone before it becomes jealousy. I walk up to the cafe and reluctantly pull open the door. Upon my entering the cafe, the bells chime and my eyes find Hoseok's. He smiles brightly. I try my best to force a small smile on my face as I walk to the table he's sitting at.
I pull up a chair and pick up a menu, skimming over the items.
"So, how are you?" Hobi asks. I shrug and try a smile. "I'm alright, how about yourself?" I say, just too nonchalantly.
"No, you're not. What's wrong, Min?" -Ah, old Hobi knows me too well.
I exhale harshly, "Kira." My shoulders slump and I stare at the menu.
"What happened? Last time I heard, you and her hit it off...well..?" His words ended with so much hesitation and uncertainty, it made me chuckle bitterly.
"Or so I thought. When I asked her to move in with me, she wasn't ready to. She said something about 'moving things too fast and being unsure of what she wanted.'"
Hobi sat there, a small smirk forming on his face as he shakes his head. His hands clasp together, and his fingers intertwine as he leans forward with his elbows on the table. Yah, this must be Hoseok the therapist. I roll my eyes. "Ah. I see," he pauses, "but let me ask you, did you love her Yoongi, really love her?"
I begin to say something, but I stop when I realized: I didn't quite love her now did I? I tried to remember a time, a time where I meant the "I love you", where I went out of my way to do something for her, but I didn't. Nothing more than necessary at least. She was seen as the ideal girlfriend, here I was as the ideal boyfriend, and together we made the ideal couple. And we were happy together...happy with the thought of being together? There wasn't a time where I genuinely remember looking at her and feeling something other than the appeals of her beauty...
I was lost in thought when I heard a laugh and looked at Hoseok while he watched me with amusement.
"You didn't love her, did you?" Hobi asks, crossing his arms and sitting back in his chair.
"Fuck you," I mutter, shooting him a glare. He laughs in return. Why does he read me so well?
"Yah, what is this, the 6th time you've had a girl in the past 2 years?"
I looked at him wide-eyed, putting an index finger to my lips. Must he be so loud?
"At this rate, you should just try out arranged marriages, same as dating but the only difference is that it's harder to back out." Arranged marriage? The word put a foul taste in my mouth and I frowned, but...I was curious. Having a spouse chosen for you is against my rebellious ways, but if it gives me what I want, isn't it worth a shot?
The cafe waitress saunters over to our table, her pen and pad in her hands.
"May I take your order?" The waitress politely smiles at us and Hoseok looks at me.
"I'll have...a caramel frappuccino and..?" I glance up at Hobi.
"I'll take an iced green tea." He smiles at her and we hand her our menus.
"Alright, I'll be right back with your order!" I rolled my eyes at all her enthusiasm and earned another chuckle out of Hoseok.
"So, arranged marriage hm?" I question as soon as she leaves, raising an eyebrow, and he knows I'm interested.
"Ah, look who's coming around. I don't think it's too bad, not for you, at least. Maybe you'll finally find yourself in a relationship that lasts longer than a few months."
I push down the urged to flip him off and shrug off his comment, considering it. "Maybe, and how is that supposed to work?"
He grins, knowing he's winning me over. "I'll set you up, you just have to trust me."
With an eye roll and a heavy sigh, I mumble my agreement.
"What was that? I can't hear you." He leans forward, a hand by his ear and a small smile playing on his lips.
"I TRUST YOU!" I say louder, slightly agitated at Hobi's persistence. This child.
He smirks as he pulls his phone out. "Hah, It just might work out."
