You sighed as you unlocked to door to the small coffee shop that you worked at, ready to start a long day. You walked into the small shop and went into the back put away all your things. You took off your jacket and hung it up along with your purse before throwing an apron. You walked back out to the front and rested on the counter waiting for your first customer to arrive.

It wasn't long before you heard the sound of a bell ringing, signaling that you had your first customer of the day. You checked the small clock mounted on the wall to the right of you and it read, 4:02. You were wondering to yourself why someone would be at a coffee shop at 4 in the morning and you didn't notice the customer was standing in front of you until they cleared their throat.

You looked up to see a boy right around your age with black hair and the bluest eyes you have ever seen. You blinked and tried to regain your focus before smiling at the boy, "Hi how can I help you?"

"I'll just have a coffee, black," He answered. You couldn't help but notice that he was extremely handsome, and that he had some serious bags under his eyes.

You were skeptical about giving this boy a coffee, it looked as if he hadn't been asleep in weeks. You were worried that he might pass out from exhaustion at any minute. When you saw that the boy had no intention of changing his mind, you nodded and started to make a cup of coffee.

As you started making the drink, the boy walked over to a table and sat down to wait for his drink. As you waited for the coffee to brew, you thought of the many possibilities as to why that boy looked so tired. You were snapped out of your daze when you heard the Keurig start to beep.

You placed a lip on the cup of coffee and started making your way to where the boy was sitting. He was sitting at a table near the back with his head leaning on the window. You were about to say something, but you stopped when you heard him snoring lightly.

You stood there in shock, not sure of what to do. You wanted to wake him up, but serving looked so peaceful. You were internally panicking, which was definitely not helping your situation.

Your panic attack was interrupted when you heard something vibrating. you were looking around to find the source of the noise. You then noticed something moving inside the boy's jacket pocket. The boy made to move as to wake up and answer the phone, so you took a deep breath and reached for the phone. You didn't bother to read the caller ID before pressing the green answer button.

"TIM WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU!" who instantly pulled the phone away from your face when you heard the loud scream. You glanced at the boy still sleeping, seemingly unfazed by the loud noise.

You took a deep breath before meekly saying, "Hello?"

The other line went dead silent for a moment, "Who is this? Where's Tim?"

You heard someone in the background shout, "Did Drake finally get a girlfriend?!"

"Um hi, your friend seems to have passed out from lack of sleep here, and I can't seem to get him to wake up." You stuttered nervously into the phone.
On the other side of the line, you heard something that resembled a slap. Or more accurately, a facepalm. "I am so sorry, Tim suffers from not knowing when to sleep. What coffee shop are you at? I'm on my way to come get him."

You let out a breath that you didn't know you had been holding, "I work at the Split Bean." You were internally screaming during the whole time you had been on the phone with someone who you guessed was Tim's friend.

You glanced over at Tim, you heard someone yell Drake in the background over the phone, so you assumed that was his last name. You had never been in a situation like this, so you had absolutely no idea how you should be handling this.

"Ugh, they didn't go over cute guys that pass out in basic training," you mumbled quietly to yourself. You assumed Tim's friend wouldn't be here for a while, so you headed back over to the counter and started getting ready for when more customers that would come later in the day.

It had only been ten minutes when you heard the door slam open. Two people rushed through the door in such a rush, you should barely place what was happening. Two men, who seemed to be in their twenties, stood in front of the counter with tired looks on their faces.

An awkward silence began to settle in the small coffee shop. The only noise being Tim's light snoring and the men's ragged breaths. You assumed those where Tim's friends and just pointed in Tim's direction. One of them gave you a grateful smile before making their way over to Tim. They picked up Tim and carried him out the door leaving without a word.

You just stood behind the counter in shock, trying to process what had just happened. You smiled to yourself dubbing that as the weirdest experience you had ever witnessed at that coffee shop.

//time skip to a week later//

You handed the person who was standing in front of you their order, and then they handed their money. It was nearing the afternoon, meaning that more and more customers would start trickling in. You were constantly checking the clock to see when your shift would end. It was almost time for your shift to end when a familiar face walked in.

You noticed as he was walking to the counter, Tim was looking a little nervous. "Hey, I just wanted to thank you for last week, I really appreciate it."

You nodded and said, "It was no problem at all," You smiled at him and his face began to flush red. You were not at all prepared for what would happen next.

"If you don't mind, um would you like to go out with me sometime?" He spoke while trying to avoid your gaze. Your face began to flare and you struggled to find your words.

Just as a wave of disappointment was going to wash over his face you quickly answered, "I would love to! I mean- yeah that'd be cool." You shouted out slightly grabbing the attention of some others in the shop.

Tim smiled and you two exchanged numbers. He left the shop feeling more energized than ever, and he didn't buy any coffee. You watched him practically dance down the street in happiness and you couldn't help but smile to yourself.
