"May?!"

It'd been quiet in the house for the past 3 days. He missed his baby being talkative all the time.

"In here!" She called

"What are you doing?" He questioned leaning against her desk

"Trying to get some work done." She shrugged

In that time, he'd took a sip of what he thought was water. His face frowned up.

"Is this liquor?"

"Just a bit of Amsterdam." She shrugged typing away on her computer

"Just a bit of Am-" he paused shaking his head taking the drink to dump it out

He turned around, bumping into May, who he didn't realize followed him

"Why'd you do that?"

"I'm not letting you drink because you're upset. That shit is cliche as fuck."

"It's not cliche, it's reality. Plus, my weed man is out of town." She rolled her eyes "I thought they were always supposed to be around."

He chuckled while she stared. He'd been cautious for the past couple of days, hoping he wouldn't upset her again. Today was the first day she'd been back and he hated that it was still so quiet. He never knew how lonely the quiet actually was.

"How's your aunt."

"Fine." May paused "she has a doctor's appointment, he says he had some good news."

When was there ever good news when being diagnosed with something so cruel? May shoved the negative thoughts to the back of her mind and returned her attention back to Bakari

"Listen, May, can we please talk?"

"I'm not really up for it right now Bakari." She sighed pushing the cereal she'd been in the midst of making to the side

"It's been three days. When are you going to talk to me?"

Silence.

"Malaysia!" his voice rising with nerves

"Don't yell at me!" she challenged

"I'm not yelling." michael growled

"You are!"

He walked closer as she stepped back. Again, and again. The two found themselves in a corner, staring intently at one another.

"Please don't do this right now, Michael."

His heart dropped at her tone.

"Do what? I just want to talk May, that's all."

"I don't want to do that though."

"You need to. We've been together for over two years and I feel like I have to push your feelings and shit out of you."

"Michael."

"No, listen." He said staring her directly in the eyes

"I love you and I respect you. I let you have your space when needed and come back as soon as you call. You say you love me and fuck with me but you don't hold shit back from someone that's down for you. That's not how this shit works. You talk or I leave Malaysia."

The fire she was thinking of throwing him moments ago went out the window. She was broken and she didn't even know exactly why, so how was she going to explain that?

All her life she held things in and was a big girl who dealt with things herself now here she was crumbling in front of her boyfriend that's always willing to help her but she can't speak.

She just felt disconnected. Their argument a couple days ago, her aunt's chemo sessions - everything was beginning to be too much.

"So you're not going to say anything? He nodded with one of those annoyed smiles

"Hit me up when you put that pride shit to the side."
