Chapter 17 ~ You saved me...

Genesis P.O.V

I giggled at the sensation of Dana's soft fingertips drawing shaped on my arm. My head was snuggled up to his bare chest, and his head was resting on mine. We had my white bed sheets wrapped around our bodies. Dana kissed the top of my head slowly before pulling away

"Gen" He mumbled. His voice was still hoarse from the events that happened a couple hours ago. I pulled away from him slightly to look up at him

"Yeah?" I mumbled. He stared down at me, smiling sweetly

"I love you" He whispered, lips hovering over mine. I smiled

"I love you too" I mumbled leaning in fully to kiss him softly. 

"Can I ask you something" He said once we pulled away. I smiled slightly

"Anything" I said with a nod. He bit his lip

"It's just...The night of the accident...S-Sarah told me that, you said something when you were being carried into the ambulance" He said nervously. I nodded. I knew exactly what he was talking about

"Yes..." I mumbled. "I said your name" I added. He shook his head

"Why?" He asked breathlessly. "Of all the things running through your mind in that moment....why was my name the first thing you said?" He asked in confusion. I cleared my throat

"W-when the truck hit our car....everything kinda went all fuzzy... I don't remember what happened after we were hit" I said shakily. It still gives me anxiety having to talk about it. Dana must've noticed because his grip around my waist tightened slightly. 

"I remember pain shooting up my side and the next thing I knew everything around me was going in slow motion. I remember trying to pick my head up and look around the car to see if everyone else was okay but...no matter how hard I tried I just couldn't gather up enough strength to do it." I sighed

"Cole was the first person that came into my line of vision... Our car was still completely wrecked and I was literally stuck in my seat. I guess my seat belt was caught into the side of the dent or something. I tried my hardest to keep my eyes open and focus on him, but I was seeing double and everything was going so slow. I know he was yelling, I could tell by how frantic he looked...I think what scared me the most was the fact that I couldn't hear a thing he was saying to me. And worst of all I couldn't say anything back to him, I couldn't even move any part of my body" I shut my eyes tightly trying to hold my tears in. 

"It felt like an eternity before I felt myself being removed from the car. They put me on a stretcher and soon I was staring up at the sky...I remember looking at all the stars and thinking...man this is a pretty sight" I laughed slightly. "the paramedics were shining a light into my eyes, and thankfully I was starting to be able to hear what they were saying...they kept asking me to do things to see if I was responsive at all. They asked me to blink my eyes a couple times and I couldn't...I was too weak to even keep my eyes open at all" I said shaking my head

"I was so scared Dana....I thought I was...well I thought that I was a goner....I had this feeling deep inside that I wasn't gonna make it to the hospital. My mind was racing and all I wanted to do was yell and cry and throw things...Then I started to think about everyone I was gonna miss if did end up dying...I was thinking about my parents...the boys, Sarah....and then you popped into my head. I thought about how I would never get to see you again...how I'd never be able to tell you I loved you.." I said as a single tear ran down my face. 

"So then the paramedics asked me to say anything, to say anything to let them know that I was still responsive or something" I mumbled. I stared up at Dana to find him staring back at me already "It took so much energy to even be able to speak...and the only thing I wanted to say was your name...Cause you were the only person I wanted to be with me at that moment" I said with a nod

"Gen" Dana mumbled

"you saved me" I said with a nod "The thought of being able to see you and tell you how much I loved you, gave me the strength to hold on" I added

"I love you so much" Dana tightened his grip, pulling me closer to him

"I love you" I mumbled

"If any had happened to you that night.....if you wouldn't have made it....Gen I wouldn't know what to do with myself" He said as his eyes welled up in tears

"I'm right here Dana" I mumbled wiping away a fallen tear from his cheek 

"Don't ever leave me" He mumbled burying his face in the crook of my neck. I wrapped my arms around him, stroking his back soothingly

"Dana I promised you once before that I was never going anywhere...." I said pulling away and cupping his face so he could look at me

"And babe... I'm not going anywhere" I said with a small smile. He smiled leaning in all the way to kiss me.
