A'la'fin' de
The stage was set, beautifully arranged
Everything neat, marigold scent, dainty pearls
A quiet harmonious song, whispered in my ears
"You've lived, you've loved, and yes shared many tears."
My heart glistened, it was true,
I'd had plenty performances to choose
Trained teachers, instructions for life's changing seasons
Which quickened my spirit and hushed doubts reasoning
Recitals dressed in reds, blues, yellows, greens
Choreographed metamorphosis of life evolving scenes
Pirouetting little turns in rhythm of melodies shared
Named mother, named sistah, named woman, I've heard
On stage, in his presence, expanded wings of a bird's song
Understanding my role, bowing before His throne
A'la'fin de', At the end, At the end
My dance, my song, taking a final spin on pointed toes,
Leaping in joy, ribbons tied, fancy bows
See me dance, my sistah, my brother, my gifts, I exposed
This performance of me loving freely, I gave of my life
A liturgical recital as a mother, a friend, a wife
I took my final spin, pivot and turn of a gift to you
As transparent as His reflection of light shinning through
Compared to a dance in France, my expression at the end
A'la' fin de, A'la' fin de, At the end, At the end
My hands graciously waive now in the cool breezy air
As my Father summons me towards His kingdom director's chair
"Come my daughter, you have danced your life with power.
Take your bow, before those who watched in these last hours.
I've joyed to see you perform before my eyes.
I've rested in my love of my blood purchased prize.
Now, with calloused feet from steady practice,
I've called you home.
Enter my presence, it is done, now take a bow."
At my daddy's words, I quickly grabbed my dress, courtesy and took my bow
Threw kisses to my audience, in hopes to see them once again
"A'la'fin de! A'la'fin de, At the end, At the end,
