Blink of an Eye
Written by Aries

Millions of souls flashed through my eyes
A blink
No distinction, no color, no class to recognize
And in seconds of darkness, showed me a blind man's journey road
Of colorless vision, still exists, evolving, unfolding, stories told
Transcribing the yesterday's of what's called the negro unconstitutional ages
Scribbled writings of numerous murders on burnt blood pages
Pushing pass ignorance, hatred and bitterness
Of unknown, uncivilized and reckless justice
God had not forsaken our tormented souls of sorrow
Holding captive, some in graves, dreams of tomorrow
As I lay in bed, Going over news, all colored dead
Bodies disregarded of those who dared to be heard
News of little girls stripped, raped of moral rights
Innocent victims of skin colored black not white
News of men engineered to be purposeful, providers slaughtered like hogs
Humbled, disrespected, dismissed like dirt, treated less than dogs
The news of the morning continued oscillating in my head
As I lay still, eyes closed in anticipation on my bed
Ah
The spirit began to stir in my soul
Get up, go forth, this story must be told
Correction, my people, exodus her ways
Mistreatment of my people, excavation leads to new days
Then
In that second, I received the dream
That this day, I'd preach it in the valley
Sing it on the mountaintop
I have a dream, I have a dream
And that dream will be fulfilled
In all it's adorned spender glory
A unified strength, a redeemable, undeniable story
That one day people will not be judged by the color of their skin
But by the virtues, standards and character, the beauty within
I have a dream
We will learn to love and in equality begin to grow
This is the vision of a God, to love without conditions
To allow peace to flow
Let it flow to the valley, let it flow to the mountaintop
Let it flow til the rivers of indifferences pass
And when it all has passed, thank God Almighty, we'd be free at last
And at this, my dream, I opened my eyes
From the darkness of the eye blink to a new lifestyle
To see a brighter vision
With restored passion and new decisions
I have a dream, let freedom ring, let freedom ring
Colorblind by prejudices of racial distinctions and intolerances without reason
And I opened my eyes and saw this
This is our season
Open your eyes!
