Chapter 16.

"I love you..." RJ said after he planted another kiss on my lips. I froze.

He.. loves me? What? Since when?

He grinned when he looked at my panic-stricken face. Ginulo niya ang buhok ko at tinignan ako ng maigi. I can't help but blush.

"Stir," I joked, just to easy my tension dahil parang hindi naman tensyunado yung kaharap ko. I still can't believe it! He loves me? What a revelation!

"Just so you know, Mrs. Nicomaine Dei Faulkerson, I tried showing my feelings for the longest time but you're numb as hell." Ngumisi siya at hinalikan ang nook o. "It feels good that you finally listened to me after years and years of failed confession."

I made face. Confession? Showing ng feelings? Wala akong matandaan.

RJ, being the mind reader that he is grinned at me and started explaining. "Una, nung graduation mo. I had to fly from London just to attend that and I immediately flew back after the event. Niyaya kitang magdinner. But being the true friend that you are, dinala mo ang mga kaibigan mo sa dinner natin."

"Nung nagkasakit ka at walang magbabantay sa'yo, I had to cancel three cases because the time I spent with you in the hospital was two weeks. Damn, muntik akong mapatalsik sa law firm ko."

"Nung high school ka, nagsabi kang may sumusunod sa'yo na hindi mo kilala, kahit may klase kami ay agad kitang pinuntahan. I had to take three tests after that. Of course, hindi mo nalaman." Agad niyang sagot at niyakap ako ng mahigpit. "I love you, Maine."

Gumanti ako ng yakap sa kanya. Inhaling his manly scent as I process the things he just said. He loves me! I can't believe it!

"All along akala ko one-sided." Humagikgik ako. "Paano ba naman kasi, sa dami mong babae. Hindi ko talaga bibigyan ng meaning." I rolled my eyes.

"Syempre, I had to deny that. Pamilya ang turing ng pamilya mo sa akin and I wouldn't want to stain that feeling that they have for me. At Nicomaine, you know we're quite struggling around that time. Nakakahiya sa friends mo na ligawan kita. The MVP of your college university courted you, right?" tanong niya sa akin. Natahimik ako. To everyone, RJ was intimidating. Like the ice king, but for some reason hindi ko naramdaman ang coldness niya sa akin. Niyakap niya ako ulit at hinalikan ang ulo ko.

"I really like kissing your head. Lakas maka-boyfriend." He said and I joined him. My heart feels fuzzy and warm, hindi yata ako makakatulog ngayong gabi.

"Sana matagal mo nang sinabi 'yan. Baka matagal na kitang sinunggaban at hindi na ako naparanoid ng ganito. Sure kang wala kang ibang babae ha."

"Meron. Si Riza, Mommy at Nana Delia. Yun lang."

"So are we magjowa?" tanong ko ng wala sa sarili which earned me a low growl from him.

"Really, magjowa? Markado ka nang Faulkerson at ang paningin mo para lang tayong high school na mag-girlfriend boyfriend. Asawa na kita, Maine. Don't ever think you have a way out of this arrangement."

"Hindi naman ako tumatakas.. wala lang, parang ang bilis." I honestly said. "Kahapon lang iniisip ko na mamahalin mo din ako pero ngayon yung greatest wish ko natupad na. Nabilisan lang ako."

Tumango siya, acknowledging my confession. "You know what my greatest wish is?"

"What?"

"Creating a family with you."

That night, we snuggled to sleep with his arms wrapped in me.

"I have nothing to wear!" I groaned as I scanned the closet. Kagagaling lang namin sa hospital at nakabenda ang paa ko. RJ accompanied me to do the check-up and being the nosy husband that he is, halos lahat ng dapat kong gawin ay itinanong na niya.

"Love, one day ka palang lumipat dito and you already invaded almost three-fourths of my closet and you say you have to wear." Umiling siya at nilapitan ako. Ikinawit niya ang kamay sa aking baywang and hugged me from behind. "You look amazing even with tattered jeans, Maine."

"But I'm going to meet your lawyer friends and their lawyer wives." I rolled my eyes and kept looking for something formal. I want to be presentable. Gala Dinner ngayon ng Integrated Bar of the Philippines and my husband is invited. Wala siyang balak pumunta doon because of my sprain but then I saw the invitation card and insisted that we need to go there.

"All they do there is socialize and talk about cases, Love. Hindi natin maeenjoy 'yun."

Sumimangot ako at bumitaw sa kanya para maghanap ulit. Now I want to drag his ass out of here and find something presentable to wear. Kaya lang wala nang oras at ang last resort ko ay pumunta sa bahay at doon maghanap ng susuotin.

"Punta tayo sa Bulacan, RJ. Hanap akong damit." I said. Umiling siya at may kinuhang malaking box sa ilalim ng isang closet.

"I was planning to give this to you kapag nakuha na kita. I think now is the best time." Binuksan niya ang box at nakita ko ang isang peach colored long gown na bukas ang likod. I gasped. This looks beautiful!

Now I cannot wait to go to the party!
