Excuse me? What room is Mrs.Powers in?," She asked

210. Down the hall to the right," The secretary said

Messiah thanks the secretary and heads down the hall and into her room. When I reached her room I looked in and saw Mrs.Powers laying there watching TV she didn't look sick but she indeed didn't look like herself.

Mrs.Powers?," I sat

Hey baby. I haven't seen you in so long! How are you?," She smiled

Fine. But what about you?." Messiah asked

Oh baby. I got cancer but I ain't going any where." Mrs.Powers sighed

Keith is worried sick about you and I.. I am to," My eyes got watery

My chances are slim but Keith's grandmother had cancer and lived from the age of 45 to 98 I'll beat this but If I don't I need you to do me a favor," Mrs.Powers tried to sit up

When I noticed her trying to sit up I jumped to my feet and raised her bed then helped her sit up by putting a pillow behind her.

If I don't beat this and god calls me home Messiah I don't want you to be scared of love anymore and I don't want you to be scared of Keith that boy loves you so much I want yall to get married, have babies and live well. He needs you as much as you need him, I definitely don't want him back with that white girl," She spoke

Mrs.Powers she's mexican," I said

Whatever continent she's from," We laugh

But promise me at least if it doesn't work you'll try. He loves you Messiah and I see that you love him," She held Messiah's hand

I promise," Messiah cried

For the rest of the time that I was there Mrs.Powers and I had deep conversations and talked about everything that she want if God was to call her home. I felt kind of bad making a promise to Mrs.Powers knowing that a promise like that isn't always kept. But she was right I did love Keith.

You go on and get home to Keith don't tell him but I can come home tomorrow," She smiles

Alright but before I go I want to pray for you," I grabbed her hand

I said the prayer and kissed Mrs.Powers goodbye and headed home. I parked my car in the garage locking the doors behind me. Thank god when I walked in the house everything was clean, smelling good and In once piece. Messiah heads upstairs and takes a quick shower.

This is going to be such a good sleep." I whispered

Messiah pushes the covers back slowly laying in the bed next to Keith, soon as I got comfortable Keith rolled to my side and pulled me in closer holding me as if he thought I'd leave in the middle of the night.

I love you Messiah," He said in between tears

I love you too Keith," I sighed at his sadness

A month later...
February 28

Are you nervous?," Messiah asked me

A little bit." I replied

Today was a big day my mother came home and over the course of this month we've done nothing but pray and help her get better. Messiah even took a leave of absence from work.

Don't be nervous baby I feel great." momma smiles

Seeing her smile made me feel good but on the inside I wanted to know will I be planning her funeral or birthday party. We walked into the oncologist office and sat in the waiting room.

Mrs. Powers? Lorraine Powers?," The doctor said

That's me," We stood up

You or you?," He pointed between messiah and her

Me," Mom raises her hand

The doctor grabbed her file and took us all to the back room. Mom sat on the bed while Messiah and I stood up.

Would you like to sit?."He asks Keith

No sir," I said

Im too nervous to sit down.

Mrs.Powers I have your file here," The doctor read

Am I dying?," She asked

No ma'am congratulations you've beat cancer your in remission Mrs.Powers!," The doctor smiled wide

Oh my.." Before I could finish I started crying Messiah held me as I cried and we both hugged my momma

So where do I go from here?." She wipes her eyes

Come back every other month for your cancer shot. I also want you to stay healthy and continue to exercise. Here is a prescription for anti-cancer pills that will also help in keeping the cancer away along with the shots."He gave her the paper

Keith couldn't speak all he could do was cry. He was crying so hard you would've thought that they got bad news.

Momma I love you," We hug

I love you too baby." They cried

All He could do was tell her that he loved her repeatedly and cry.

Let's get out of here she beat it Keith," Messiah smiles

I love you so much," I wipe my face and kiss her

The trio walks out of the room I text my sisters the good news and we all meet up mommas house to celebrate. I'm so happy she's in remission and I know god was listening when I prayed.

She's even going back to work at her dental office. My mom is cancer free, I got good acting jobs plus auditions set up, amazing friends and family and I also have Messiah. How else can God bless me?
