Rory POV-

My head is racing. I can't breathe. I can't believe how pathetic I am, sitting in the bookstore panicking.

I knew she wasn't going to be super happy. I knew she was bound to freak out, in classic Lorelei Gilmore fashion. Or, now I suppose, in Lorelei Danes fashion.

"Rory?" I hear a voice from above. I look up to see Kirk hovering over me.

I jump at the sight of him. I get up, my heart pounding even more. Kirk today is wearing an interesting suit with a green polka dot tie.

The wedding. I forgot everyone was there for the wedding.

And I've freaked her out. On her wedding day. I'm a terrible daughter.

"Are you alright, Rory?" Kirk asks.

I can't help but frown at the ugliness of the tie. "You look like you just came back from a job interview at the circus," I remark, avoiding the question.

He holds the tie, taking a step back. "I'll have you know that this was my grandmother's lucky tie."

I raise an eyebrow. "Your grandmother had a lucky tie?"

"She had multiple lucky ties, but I chose this one. It goes well with my eyes, don't you think?" Kirk leans closer so I can see his pupils.

I lean back. "Yep, sure does!" Whatever I can say to get out of here and find my mother.

I walk past Kirk quickly, getting out of the bookstore. At least he took my mind off of everything.

But now I need another distraction. I'm standing out front by the gazebo, where I informed my mother of my pregnancy.

People are already taking down the wedding decorations to make room for the festival.

I think back to the small wedding party Luke and my mom held yesterday.

It was beautiful. No, better than beautiful. Radiant.

The way Luke looked into my mother's eyes gave me such a glowy feeling i can only describe as love. I want Logan to look at me like that. I don't want him to be with Odette, I want him to be with me. I want to write this book, I want everything to be normal again. I don't want to be pregnant.

"Rory!" I hear Babette call from across the road by Luke's Diner. She's helping take down the string lights, but comes running over when she sees me.

"Rory, darling," She says, putting a hand on my shoulder to catch her breath. "Your mother's looking for you."

I groan. "Well tell her I don't want to see her right now."

Babette suddenly looks very concerned. "Sugar, what happened? Did you get in a fight?"

I shake my head. "Kind of, but not really." I don't feel like talking right now. I can feel another bout of nausea coming along and I don't think I can suppress it for much longer.

"Look, I'll talk to you later, Babette, but I really have to go," I say before sprinting to Luke's Diner.

I push open the door and shout, "Luke!" I make my way back to the bathroom, slamming the door shut. I don't care who sees me.
