Self harm is a taboo in society that is not addressed properly, it is not prevented and it is not taught about. Therefore, it remains a stigma to many despite thousands suffering from it around the world. Unfortunately, this can leave sufferers feeling isolated and misunderstood due to the lack of awareness or education around it. However, it is important for you to realize that no- it does not make you crazy.

I've been there, I was there for three years and I spent a lot of time convincing myself I had lost the plot and the whole thing spiraled out of control. I was lucky in that I had support and sense knocked into me, so I'll do the same to you.

Cutting is not normal, no. But that does not mean you are crazy.
Wanting to hurt yourself is not okay. But that does not mean you can't become okay.
Feeling isolated sucks. But it doesn't mean you are alone in this situation.
It may be external factors pushing you to feel this way. But that doesn't mean it is out of your hands and you can't handle it.

The key to recovery is a combination of love and support with the occasional kick up the backside. Yes it is understandable and okay for you to get triggered, relapse and get urges, but do not use it as an excuse to give up.

If you want to know the harsh reality to self harm and recovery, please read this book. If you are here to mock and shun self harmers please leave immediately.
