Life Exchange

1.-The beginning

I look at myself in the mirror and take in my surrounding. My room is a complete mess. Clothes scatter the floor like confetti , some books and stationary are stacked in one corner of the room and make up in another , this isn't going anywhere and I leave in 3 days. I look at my suitcase; half full and think... how am I meant to pack my life in a suitcase for the next year or two? My biggest dream was always to study in America; at some point in my life, and now after years of dreaming, months and months of hassle my dream was finally coming true.

After finishing packing and cleaning my room, I run a hairbrush through my thick blonde locks making sure I get rid of any knots. I watch as Stiles is reunited with Scott and the rest making me realise how soon I leave for America. After shutting my laptop down and walking downstairs I'm greeted by Lola, I watch as her tail wags and she follows me into the kitchen no doubt to hopefully get a treat. I take out some eggs and watch as Lola leaves satisfied with a bone in her mouth, I then start to make some scrambled eggs when Jess, my sister walks in the kitchen hungover as ever.

"Rough night?" I ask knowing by her appearance that last night hasn't done her any good. Even though she is already 23 she certainly isn't over her drinking and going out phase.

She mumbles something as I put the eggs onto two separate plates, "Can you speak english this time?" I ask passing a plate to her.

She looks up at me shooting daggers through her eyes, "Shut up I have the biggest headache" . I smirk, "I would have thought that after all the practise you have with partying, you wouldn't have headaches anymore." She waves me the middle finger as I walk past her and head back up to my room. I hear a shuffle of feet following me and leave the door open just enough so that Lola can fit through before  closing the door.

I hop on my bed to finish the episode of Teen wolf as Lola curls up next to me taking up half the bed.I run my hands through her chocolate fur and nibble on my food as the episode comes to an end, and before I realise I drift off to sleep.

A knock on the door wakes me out of my slumber and I look up to see none other than, Lexi run and jump on top of me nearly causing me to fall of my bed.

Lexi and I have been best friends since Nursery, through the good and bad times we've stuck together, nobody knows me as well as she does. You could say we are the cliche best friends, I have blonde hair were as she has long straight chocolate brown hair, like me is 5'6 with a petite body, intense blue eyes that can look right through me, and know what's on my mind. Lexi knows what happened to me and very few people know, only family and selected few of my friends know and it will stay that way.

I laugh as she squeezes the life out of me, "You finished suffocating me yet?" , giggling I try to pry her off of my body, when I realise she isn't going to let go, I smile and hug her back.

"I can't believe you leave in 3 days! What the hell am I supposed to do without you?! And before you can say it, I know, I know you are going to call everyday, and yes I know that I am going to fly over during the summer, but we've never been apart for so long!" She says with hint of hurt and sadness in her voice.

She then lays down as she poorly tries to push Lola of the bed, "Lola I swear that one day I will just straight slam you off the bed!" I giggle watching my best friend try to get her off the bed as I tell Lola to get off and she does so immediately. Lexi then huffs out "I don't get it, she just loves to annoy me" as we settle into a comfortable silence.

"Lexi?"

"Mhmm?"

"I know that I will be gone for a long time and we won't see each other physically for a long time but.. I really do need this. I need this to get my mind of things to do something new, to.. I don't know live a little." I say as a tear rolls down my cheek.

She then hug's me tightly saying "M I know, you really don't have to explain yourself to me I'm very happy for you and proud of you for taking such a exciting yet scary opportunity. And I know after all that's happened it will really do you some good. I just.. I will miss you. Since nursery we haven't been separated for longer than about 4 weeks and I just don't want it to ruin our friendship."

"You know that would never happen, you have always been there for me and I will always be there for you nothing will ever break our friendship" lifting my pinkie to her, "I promise"

She smiles at me and says "Promise" hooking her finger with mine.

We spent the day talking about school work, boys and any new gossip going around. As I go to the bathroom I look into my sister's room and see her laying on her bed, and I silently laugh at the state of her as I gently place a blanket over her small body.

As Lexi and I watch a series of movies throughout the night and have a dance party in between each movie, we sit on the couch and look at different outfits for Jayden's party on the following Friday a day after my flight.

"Do you think he'll ask about you again M? " I tense up at the mention of him "Because if he does I promise to you I will kick him so hard he won't have any one calling him daddy, except any cheap girls that are humping him." I started laughing so hard, I could feel my abs forming from  my laughter with tears streaming down our faces we sit back and wait until we calm down before Lexi speaks again.

"M listen to me, I know that because of what happened you are and you have all the right to be, very anxious as to what a boy wants from you and what he will or won't do. But remember not all guys are the same. So don't back away from forming friendships, and hell maybe even a relationship with a guy because of him. Don't give him the power to control your life when he is long gone out of it." her eyes trained on me.

I smile and look up to meet her eyes, " I know don't worry, when I go there I'm going to have an open mind set and treat it like a fresh start, a clean slate on which a story can be made without my current one being the foundation of it."
