••••••••••••• Joe watched Penny text with a confused look on her face that he knew himself to be the cause of. Even though he knew he was acting different, Joe didn't do anything to stop his behavior. He was just so perplexed by the mysterious girl. If he's being completely honest, he feels kind of betrayed by his friend. Penny apparently doesn't trust him enough to tell him even a tiny personal detail.
Joe sighed as he pulled the car into a spot in the cast parking lot and glanced over at Penny only to see her getting out of the car and bounding into the building. He just hoped he isn't going to screw up whatever they had going.
Penny loved being with the cast, even if they all were acting a little off. She laughed and ate with Natalia and Charlie, played board games with the boys, and watched Spider-man Homecoming with Sadie and Millie. Whenever she caught sight of Joe, he pretended to be busy or started a conversation with someone. At one point, all the kiddos and teens were busy, so Penny was left with David and Winona.
"Hi Penny. It's nice to see you again!" David said politely and Penny gave him and Winona hugs. "Although, I do miss the lobster costume..."
The three of them laughed dryly and made small talk for a while. Penny enjoyed talking with them, and they were the only ones who were acting normal, so she stayed with them as long as possible.
"Are you excited for thanksgiving?" Penny nodded at Winona's question absentmindedly, "Do you have any plans?"
"I'll probably get mcdonald's and pig out while watching movies." Penny said quickly, trying to avoid the unavoidable questions to come.
The two adults seemed surprised by the answer, "No plans with family or friends?" David asked Penny nicely, genuinely interested in her plans.
Penny sighed before putting on a fake smile, "I actually uh grew up in an orphanage. Usually I'd go over to Carmen's house but this year they're going to Paris." She didn't know why, but she didn't feel like lying to them.
"Hey! P! Come watch me in this next scene!" Gaten dragged Penelope away from David and Winona and pushed her down on the couch.
