"The Emperor of Konan searched the land in the best literary and martial artists were summoned to court. The Lady Miaka, as Priestess of Suzaku, must identify the remaining five warriors of the Southern Realm.

During an exercise, a column collapsed and Lady Miaka was buried by the rubble. She only escaped death by Tamahome's intervention, who saved her from being crushed even though it caused him personal injury.

A woman appeared to dig them out, Nuriko, with a willow symbol on her chest, and extraordinary strength. She became enamored by Tamahome, and ignored the twins completely... in fact she was rude and never considered the twins' feelings in the least, flaunting her craftiness and feminine wiles..."

It is a peaceful night, the moon is shining bright. The stars twinkled as they helped light the world with the moon.

It was a peaceful night, the moon was shining bright.

For someone has a dark plan tonight.

A beautiful woman with fair skin, dark purple hair and light pink eyes is staring at the ground, from a higher floor, looking deep in thought. She is none other than Nuriko, the woman who saved Miaka and Tamahome and also the woman who stole the latter's lips' virginity.

Miaka appeared from the right, walking, but stopped when Nuriko called for her. "What's the matter?" Miaka asked. She noticed that Nuriko isn't her usual self tonight. "Well, I was walking around the pond in the west side pavilion today... and I seem to have lost the mate to this precious earring."

"Oh, It's beautiful!" Miaka praised. Nuriko continued. "It's Yakouju, a family heirloom. My mother gave them to me when I was ordered to enter the harem. They've always been my favorite."

"Uh-huh," Miaka listened intently. "The stone shines in the dark, so the best time to look for it is in the evening, or at night. But none of the maids will go out because they're afraid of the dark, I guess," Nuriko continued once more.

"I'll help you! I'm not afraid to go out there and look!" Miaka felt bad, apart from its beauty, it's a family heirloom, after all! If it's what made Nuriko sad, Miaka's certain that this earring is very precious to her! "Oh really?" Nuriko glanced at her. Miaka smiled. "It's the family heirloom you treasure the most, right? Okay then it has to be found! Don't worry, you can count on me!"

"In that case, in order to repay your generosity, please accept my allegiance, and allow me to serve you as Nuriko, of the Suzaku Seven!" Nuriko exclaimed, with fake enthusiasm. She's certain the girl can't back out anymore. After all, that is what she wanted from the start. In short, her plan is going smoothly.

"Oh, yes! I would love that! Wait right here. I promise that I'll find it for you," Miaka said, leaving quickly, unaware of the dark plan that betrayed the peaceful night. "Thank you, I'll be right here waiting!" Nuriko waved her goodbye. 'What a stupid girl.'

"What is it?" Hotohori, the emperor of Konan, also one of the Suzaku Seven, asked his advisors. They're getting restless a lot lately. There are a ton of pressing matters, after all. "Well you are eighteen, sire. And the time has long since come for you to choose an empress. Has it not entered your mind?" One of his advisors inquired.

Especially the empress matter. Hotohori thinks about it sometimes, but the only image that pops up is the priestess of Suzaku, which is the girl named Miaka Yuki.
