(Third-Person Perspective)

Stanley Uris awoke to water dripping on his head. Shaking y/n awake, he just pointed to the ceiling of his bedroom.

Mold and mildew grew, and from that had sprouted a stringy, elastic growth, which had large pores, the source of the water. It was collecting on the ends of the strings, dripping all over the pair. Y/n opened her eyes, drowsy for a breif moment, until she saw the thing on the ceiling. She moved backwards, until her upper body was flat against Stan's headboard. He moved with her, and the plant continued to drip in the same place. Without either teen seeing, thin, spindly fingers began to come out of the wall. A hole bagan to widen, pried apart by those hands, close to Stanley. Both humans were breathing quickly and rapidly, her right hand intertwined with his left. Their white-knuckled grips pleased It as It fed off their fear. Its hands gripped Stan's shoulders, pulling him back into the hole. The whispers could be heard throughout the room, and the pitch raised gradually, but the volume never changed.

You'll float, too.

You'll float, too.

You'll float too.

Y/n covered her mouth in horror, eyes widening and tears streaking her face. It needed not take further action, for the girl went after Stanley. The plant started to recede back into the ceiling as Y/n went down the tunnel It had made of the pipes, and the tunnels shrank behind her back to normal, trapping the teens in the dark, dank pipes, It dragging Stan with It. She chased after It, loyal and protective to the point of utter stupidity. She followed It into a large chamber, falling out of a normal pipe.

It dropped Stanley Uris in the center of the room, in front of a pile of lost things around which floating children lie. It turned to her and she paled further, recoiling slightly, but bravely stood her ground. She picked a jagged, rusty metal rod off the ground, shifting a bit into a steady fighting stance. It could taste her fear on the air, hear her heartbeat, so fast, so scared, so delicious. It, still in the form of the Woman, licked its lips, wickedly smiling at her and beginning to reveal Its teeth.

"Get... away from him!" Y/n said angrily, faltering slightly. Stronger, she ordered It away from the boy. "Get away from him!"

It complied gladly at first, stalking towards the girl, until It realized Stanley's pain was more terrifying for her than her own. The human compassion was strange, It thought, but regardless, It would feast tonight. It turned back to the boy, shivering weakly on the wet concrete floor.

"No!" she screamed, coming closer, but It was already looming over Stanley. It licked his neck, inhaling deeply, reveling in their fear. It felt a stabbing pain in Its neck as It prepared to bite the boy. Y/n had driven the metal rod through the side of its neck and down into its chest, puncturing both of the Woman's lungs. It fell, not dying but wounded, and Y/n pulled Stanley up, pulling him with her to an exit. They ran through the tunnels together until they came to a pipe with a rope going up, which she took in her hands, pulling herself up, and he followed. They lay briefly, panting, on the floor of a dilapidated house. Stanley looked around, taking in their surroundings.

"We must be in 29 Neibolt," he murmured, "The well house."

He offered her a hand, pulling her up, and y/n wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him close. She allowed herself only a moment in his embrace, until she spoke. "We need to get out. Come on, It can't be dead."

Stan nodded, and y/n took his hand in a death grip, scared but remaining coherent from sheer force of will and self control. They moved quickly through the house together, hand-in-hand, until they burst out of the door.

"My house is closer than yours, should we just go there?" Y/n asked.

Stan nodded. "If you're okay with that, so am I," he agreed.

She nodded, leading him to her house even though he knew the way from earlier that day. They moved quietly to her bedroom window, climbing through. Only when they were safely in her bedroom did y/n relax, releasing a bit of the tension in her shoulders. Looking down at herself, she made a face. "We're filthy," she complained. "Do you want to shower? My parents never notice if I do in the middle of the night, or at least they've never complained about it."

Stanley turned scarlet, looking uncomfortable.

"Not together!" Y/n exclaimed at the look on his face. "But we're roughly the same size, and I like oversized sweats, so I can probably lend you something to wear."

His blush deepened, and he nodded, not trusting himself to speak. She giggled a bit at his facial expression, then went to her closet and pulled out a tee shirt and sweatpants, handing them to him. Y/n led him to the bathroom, then closed the door before speaking. "Don't turn the water off when you're done; I'm going to get clothes for myself. I'll wait outside the door--"

She glanced at the closet, then cautiously opened it, taking an extra towel. She bit her lip, then continued.

"Actually, can you come with me?"

He nodded wordlessly, understanding the subtext to her words, which was I can't be alone after that, and I don't want to leave you alone, either.

Following her to her room, she took underwear, shorts, and a tee shirt. They went back to the bathroom together, and she faced the door while Stan stripped and stepped in. They switched places, each respectful of the other's privacy. He faced the door as Y/n stepped out and started dressing. She slid down the wall, and a sob escaped her, making Stan go to her without thinking. Nothing crossed his mind but comforting her, and he held her as she cried, shaking. Slowly, she began to calm down, until she finally stopped and they sat together on the floor, the room still steamy.

"I thought It was going to kill you," Y/n said shakily.

Wryly, Stan replied, "I thought it was going to kill me too."

She smiled slightly into his neck, so he resolved not to put them back into square one by saying I thought it was going to kill both of us.

"Come on, baby, let's go back to your room," Stan said quietly. She nodded weakly, taking her shirt from the counter, making him realize she hadn't been wearing anything other than shorts when she broke down. He turned dark red, staring at his shoes.

She walked to him, looking into his eyes, grinning. "Come on, we've almost died together, it's not that bad."

He blushed harder, even though she had a point. Rolling her eyes, Y/n kissed him, leading him back to her room, dumping their dirty clothes in her hamper.

"Sorry about the mess," she said, leading him to her bed, which was covered in tons of plush blankets. She lie down with her head at the foot of the bed, where her pillows were, her feet up on the mound of blankets.

He shook his head. "Don't worry about it, it's cozy. I like it."

She smiled, pulling him down onto her bed, playing with his hair. He wouldn't normally let anybody do that, but with y/n, it was nice somehow. She kissed him, then buried her face in his shoulder, falling asleep comfortably beside him. He wondered how she could be so relaxed after what had happened, but as he looked around, he saw that this room just couldn't be uncomfortable. With y/n sleeping beside him, he felt peaceful, and he fell asleep, no longer worried about It, or his friends, or anything else, just alone in the dark with her.
