The next morning, I got out of bed at around nine o'clock. I showered, dressing in a baby blue cami and dark skinny jeans, and skipping makeup for the day. I brushed my h/l, curly/straight, h/c hair and let it air-dry as I made pancakes --Saturdays and Tuesdays were my days to cook breakfast, but I was hungry and my brother hadn't cooked yet. I took three medium-sized ones and drenched them in (your favorite pancake topping), eating then washing the dishes. I put the now cooled extra pancakes in a container and left them on the counter, leaving a couple small ones in (your pet's name)'s bowl. I left the kitchen to quickly brush my teeth, then put on ankle socks and my running shoes, stepping outside. It was the time of day when the air was heating up, and I could see the trees of the Barrens not far away. I got onto my bike and rode into town, ready to explore Derry. I thought of the nightmare I had last night, of Stanley Uris and Pennywise the Clown and the tall lady. I shivered, trying to think about happier things.
Maybe I would make another friend today, I thought. That would be nice. I rode into town, dodging cars, and parked my bike by the drugstore, looking around. While I was here, did I need anything? Tampons. I needed tampons, so I checked how much money I had. I walked into the drugstore, grabbing a box of tampons and paying for them, and saw Beverly.
"Hi Beverly!" I said, putting my bag behind my back.
"Hey, y/n!" She replied. "Oh, I was going to look you up in the phone book to tell you, but since you're here, I won't be able to go to the Barrens today. My dad told me to be home by noon when I came out to get these and... when I cross my dad, bad things happen.
"Oh! That's okay. Here, my number is (your phone number). What's yours?"
She wrote it on the back of my hand. I glanced down but only saw that it ended in 0959. "Here. If somebody other than me answers, just say that you'll call back later," she instructed, half warning.
"Okay, thanks. Beverly, this might sound crazy, but I need to tell you something," I said as I thought of the vividly real nightmare. It seemed more and more like it had happened the more I thought about it. I recounted the story of the night before, adding the part where when I first woke up it seemed like a nightmare but I was feeling more and more like it was real.
A look of horror was on her face, as she said, "I don't know why I believe you, but I do."
"Hell, I don't know why I believe myself," I replied. "Thank you, for not thinking I was crazy."
Just then, three boys walked in: Stanley Uris and two of his friends, the small one and the stuttering one. They walked into the first aid aisle, and Beverly picked up a box of tampons for herself. She was making her way to the counter when the boys saw us and stared. Beverly moved her box behind her back.
"What's up with you?" She asked, staring at them just as hard (particularly at the stuttering boy).
"What's up with you?" The small one asked in reply.
"Um we were g-g-getting supplies to h-h-h-help somebody but we don't have enough money," the stuttering one replied.
Beverly had an "oh" face for a second, then smiled. "I think I can help with that. Go when he's distracted. Y/n, I'll meet you outside."
I left the drugstore and waited in the alley, where I found Stanley's loud friend, a dark-skinned boy, and a bleeding boy. "Hello," I said. "Your friends and Beverly are getting the supplies, they'll be out in a minute. I'm y/n," I said.
"The new girl," the loud boy replied.
"Yeah," I said, "the new girl." Stanley and his friends came out, followed shortly by Beverly, and after a quick exchange between Stanley's stuttering friend and Beverly, I asked, "Now that Beverly's here, what the fuck happened to you?"
"I fell," the bleeding one said.
"Straight into Henry Bowers," the loud one finished, which earned him a reproachful look from his friends. "What? It's the truth!"
I groaned. "That guy's such a douchebag."
That received emphatic agreement.
"So who are all of you?" I asked.
One by one, they introduced themselves, beginning with Richie and ending with Mike. The loud one was Richie, Stanley was just Stan, the stuttering one was Bill, the small one was Eddie, the hurt one was Ben, and the dark-skinned (attractive but not my type) boy was Mike.
"I'm y/n and this is Beverly Marsh," I said, although they probably already knew Beverly.
"We know who she is," Richie said.
"Jesus, I was just being polite," I laughed. "Don't suck the wound, that's a myth. I'd still do the alcohol, even though it causes a bit more injury, because he landed in grey water. Better not to have sewage in it but take longer to heal than for it to heal with bacteria or possibly bet an infection," I said.
Everybody looked at me; I couldn't decide if it was because I was spouting information (was I acting like a know-it-all?) or because I was leading somewhat. "Sorry," I said, just in case.
"T-t-that's ok-k-kay, b-but where did y-you learn this stuff?"
"The library?" I asked. Where else?
"You have time for that?" Eddie asked incredulously.
"I'm a night person," I replied. "And I like to read."
"Weird," Richie muttered, as Ben said, "Me, too."
"Cool," I said to Ben, ignoring Richie, though I had not taken offense.
"We're going to the quarry tomorrow; want to come?" Bill broke the silence.
"Sure," I replied.
"I should get going," Beverly said.
"See you tomorrow, then. Bye," I said.
"I should get going, too," I said, almost shy now that my friend was gone. "See you tomorrow."

Okay, so I kinda hated that chapter. It felt awkward. Holy shit that's longer than I thought. Okay, so the next one should be better... The romance should start really soon, but there's not much of it in the next chapter. Thank you to anyone who reads :) and please comment! Criticism is welcome but don't just say "it sucks" say why it sucks plz. :):):)
