Why do you want to do this?
The easy answer is to raise your read count on Wattpad. The not so easy answer is to establish, maintain and grow a reader/writer/critic community.
Why create a community? Because one of the things I’ve noticed on Wattpad is that a lot of people might have one really good book, but then things fall flat, and they can’t understand why. Or they get a fairly small read count, and they want it to improve over time. Or they make the Hot List once or twice and they want more.
Furthermore, if you have any ideas about being published, then this guide is for you. Because these days, even traditional publishing houses require some online marketing by the writer. So get some expertise now! I swear you will not regret it.
Get Your Own House in Order
Do yourself a favor and clean up your work. Spellcheck the hell out of it. Make (or get) good covers that are not too busy (you don’t want a lot of distracting elements) and look good when shown in both large and small sizes. Tag your work properly (I will also go over tagging, don’t fret if you don’t know how). Add links and images to any chapter, wherever you can (if you have nowhere to link to, don’t worry; I’ll show you that, too). Make sure your work is in the right categories.
As for Wattpad fame, specifically on this site, the best guide I can recommend to you is @MichaelLimjoco’s. He keeps track of this stuff better than I ever have or probably will. Hence the link is to his book on the subject. Follow his instructions and I swear they will help you. The image is of his beautiful wife. The video is dedicated to him and it’s Ella Fitzgerald singing Cole Porter’s You’re the Top.
Did this chapter help you? Did it hold your interest? Do you want to see more? Then please vote! You know the puppy wants you to. ;) If you’ve got questions, add them as comments.
