Once And Always A Friend

I've been with Minato and the others for almost a year and a half now. I've gotten to meet some of Obito's other friends, they're pretty nice. I'm still not getting along too well with Kakashi though. But our relationship has gotten a little better. And I mean it when I say a little.  

I guess you could say Obito's my best friend now as well. We hang out everyday after training and after completing our missions. He's the one I've gotten closer to the most. 

After training, Obito tells me about the other Uchiha's, they seem like pretty nice people. I mean, I don't know any of them besides Obito, so I'm just assuming they're nice. 

He also told me about his crush on Rin, but he says she likes Kakashi. I told him he should just tell her he likes her, but he always refuses to. Says he doesn't want to mess things up between them. 

Anyway, Minato says there's trouble going on, and we've got to go on a long mission. He said something about war, and a bridge. I'm not too sure, I wasn't really listening. I should have been though. I wish I did.

As we walked through a bamboo forest, my mind wandered back to yesterday.

Minato was sitting over on a large rock while Rin, Kakashi, and myself stood nearby. We were waiting for Obito to show up so we could leave for our mission. He was late, as usual. I glance at Kakashi as he mutters,

"He's late again." 

Then with a loud crash and thud, Obito fell from the trees nearby and lands on his butt near Kakashi's feet. He asks, out of breath,

"Did I make it?"

Kakashi stares down at him, and says,

"No. You're late again, Obito. When did you think we were supposed to meet up? When becoming a full-fledged ninja, following the rules is common sense, right?" 

The Uchiha replies with, 

"No, you see, while coming here, I ended up having to help an old lady who had too much luggage cross the street." 

Obito pulls his goggles up and rubs his eyes,

"And something was in my eye."

"Yeah, right. That's a lie, isn't it?"

Minato looks at them from his spot on the rock, and says,

"Don't say that Kakashi. You helped the old lady, didn't you, Obito?"

Obito takes out his eye drops and puts a few drops of the liquid on his eyes while saying,

"I even carried her luggage!"

Kakashi turns from the Uchiha, to his blonde teacher,

"Sensei, you're too easy on him. If he keeps acting up like this around people, they'll just be in trouble, right? Those who break the rules and regulations are called scum. Right?"

Minato laughs nervously and Obito asks,

"Can't you ever be nice sometimes? You're always complaining about these rules and regulations, it's getting annoying! What matters is discipline!"

Rin holds her hands up,

"Now, now. Cut it out, you two. You're on the same team you know?"

Apparently they didn't know that. Kakashi's coal coloured eyes turn to her,

"Rin, you're too soft on him. Today is a very special day for me." 

She lowers her hands,

"Y-yeah, that's right."
