~There's A Moon Like You~
I watched her as she walked to her locker right across from mine. She looked sad and I couldn't help but wonder why.
She was all alone. Her best friend was sick and in the hospital. At least that's what the nurse said when I asked.
Y/N? I can be there for you, if you let me. Let me hold you?
I wondered if she even noticed me. We've been in the same homeroom since freshman year and even now as though we're senior, I feel like she's never even seen me before.
I'm just some stranger who admires you from a far.
-
"Y/N? Hi! Umm...you probably don't know me too well but...if you didn't mind...maybe we could get a coffee after class or something...you know just talk?"
I paused constantly from the overflowing nervousness in my stomach. I wanted to get to know her more, I wanted her to know me.
"Yeah sure Jaebum. I'll meet you at the school gate."
She gave me the most angelic smile I've ever seen before turning and walking to her last class. I felt a sort of victory. I'm finally going to become more than the guy from a far.
She even knew my name.
-
I waited at the gate for about 10 minutes before you arrived.
You gave me a warm smile before we got in my car and went to your favorite coffee shop.
You said it was down the street from where you lived so it was convienent for you, plus your best friend worked there.
But you didn't mention that she was in the hospital. I wonder why? Is it a secret. I'll hold all your secrets if you want.
You ordered a caramel frappuccino and I got a caramel macchiato. Turns out we both really like caramel.
You talked about your likes and dislikes, I listened intently while sipping my coffee. I shared mine as well and you gave me the same attention.
I mentioned that my mom has been sick lately so it's been hard for me to study and you said you were sorry. I guess that helped you open up a bit as well. You talked about how your best friend will be having surgery soon because her kidney is failing. She'll be better in know time because of the surgery. Don't worry I'll be your shoulder if you need a friend. I told you.
You nodded and held my hand that was lying out on the table, giving it a gentle squeeze of reassurance.
I'm happy that you held my hand. I felt warm. Your touch was soothing and I couldn't help but love every second of it...till you let go.
-
It was getting late and you said you had to get home. I told you I'd drive you but you wanted to walk.
"I'll walk you then."
I stated rather than asked but you denied my request. I wasn't going to let you walk alone at this hour so I took your hand in mine.
"Jaebum...you really don't have to."
You sighed as I held your hand in mine as we walked. I intertwined our fingers noticing the slight shade of red rush to your cheeks, causing me to smile.
"You're right, I don't have to. But you know what? I really want to."
You smiled at my words and I knew today was the beginning of something beautiful. I just had to hold on and be there for you when you needed me.
-
"Jaebumie?"
We were sitting on your couch while your mom went to get your sister from school.
I looked down at you, you were cuddled into my side. My arm wrapped around your waist as we watched your favorite movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas.
"Yes?"
I questioned as you sat up and held me close pulling me into your warm embrace. I loved your hugs. They were addicting. You were like my home away from home and I loved it.
"We'll always be together right? You'll never leave me like my best friend did?"
I was shocked at your words. You haven't talked about your best friend since her funeral. I felt so bad as you cried into my shoulder everyday for a month. I didn't complain though. I held you close and told you it would be okay.
"Always and forever. Nothing can take me away from you."
I smiled kissing your forehead lightly causing you to blush as you always have every time I kissed you.
I asked you out a little before your best friends funeral. You were so happy to be called mine. I was as equally happy, maybe more.
But her death made you sad again. I always did my best to make you smile. There was no other smile that I hoped for. I want to marry you someday and I hope you'll accept me.
"I love you so much Y/N."
I smiled kissing your nose before placing my lips on yours. A slow warm and passionate kiss is what we would always share.
I love you so much. You never even knew that I knew I would love you before we had coffee that day. I couldn't tell you. You would think I was weird or something and even though you lost your best friend I will always be here. She loved you very much and I know you loved her too. It's okay to cry. I'll take care of you my moon.
"I love you too Jaebumie."
