Justin held Micah's hand tightly. The doctor squirted out some gel onto Micah's small tummy and looked at the monitor. Justin followed her gaze and smiled when a small faint heart beat filled the room. Micah sniffled and broke down in tear as she saw the small peanut shaped form on the screen.
She was in awe at how tiny yet strong the peanut was and she regretted ever wishing the peanut wasn't a part of her. Micah squeezed Justin's hand and she could tell he was holding back tears. That was her peanut. That was their peanut. The doctor wiped the jelly off and told them that she'd be back with their pictures. Micah sat up and wiped her eyes. "That's our peanut." She smiled. Justin hugged her and placed his hand on her bump. That indeed was their peanut and he would do everything he could to keep her and the baby safe.
When the doctor came back she handed Micah the ultrasound pictures and sat down on the office chair. "You're still in first trimester of your pregnancy and by the size of the fetus it tells us that you're only about 6 weeks along." The doctor smiles. "Congratulations, you two, you can set up your next appointment at the front desk."
