My name has always been Julia. This year, though, I changed it up in all my classes, so that no one would know if I was called Julie or Julia, and I would avoid being called on in class. That, unfortunately, backfired, and resulted in everyone asking me if it was Julie or Julia on a daily basis.
When I was in elementary school, all I wanted was to be called Jenny. I didn't have a good reason for it, either, just thought it was such a good name and why in the world didn't my mother think to give me it when I was born? It was a very big deal for me in 3rd grade, as you can probably tell. I would even tell people that my name was Jenny.
They'd always say, "No, you're Julia."
Since that was, indeed, a fact, I never really had a good counterargument.
