"alright class. pair up. this next project consists of partners,"
the literature teacher spoke,
clapping his hands together in muse.
i took the rubric into my hands and scanned through it before hearing,
"hey y/n."
i looked up to see richie tozier smiling at me,
eyes wide behind those lenses.
"no! absolutely not. last time we worked on a project together, i did all off the work!"
"please don't make me work with the other richard! he's weird! i promise to help you! y/n, come on. do it for your best friend."
he pleaded with a mock frown.
i groaned,
rolling my eyes in defeat.
"fine."

"okay, the mockingbird. what are the three main characters?"
i asked richie,
watching him flip through the book he held in his hands rather lazily.
he threw it towards the end of my bed and laid back with sigh,
"jesus, moses, and betty crocker."
he smiled a goofy smile.
i narrowed my eyes at him in an attempt to warn him,
making him chuckle.
"look, y/n. we have two weeks to do this and you're already half way done. can we please finish this later?"
he asked.
i could tell he was growing bored.
the brown eyes that hid behind those thick frames clouded with curiosity and boredom made the strings of my heart tug a little.
"okay. fine."
richie could convince me to anything.
all it took was a smile and i was in.
as he laid in my bed,
rambling about some nonsense.
i laid on the floor and let my mind wander to a world where richie and i could exist as one.
there was never a dull moment around richie tozier.
it was always full of excitement;
one adventure to the next.
he knew how to cater to my bad moods,
holding me close and whispering words of encouragement.
his hands felt like they practically belonged to caress my skin.
we'd be perfect together.
i just know it.
"hello! earth to y/n!"
he called out,
now sitting next to me.
i sat up and let myself return to reality,
and blushed lightly.
"sorry."
"what are you thinking so heavily about?"
i shrugged my shoulders and let my eyes fall to the freckles that kissed his nose.
"nothing, honestly."
"yeah, right! you were all zoned out! come on, tell me."
"you're so unbearably nosey. you know that?"
i teased with a nudge to his shoulder.
he placed a hand to his chest in mock hurt then gasped.
"nosey? how could you. i'm...curious, that's all."
"yeah, yeah,"
i giggled along with him.
"oh! i know what it is! y/n's thinking about a boy!"
he teased,
poking my shoulder.
"who is he?"
"what? i never said anything about a boy."
"didn't have to. i can see it in those eyes of yours. you're in deep!"
i rolled my eyes and hid myself away from his gaze.
"shut up."
richie tilted his head to the left in muse,
then laid a finger to my chin to turn my head and face him.
my heart melted at the sight of him;
eager to know yet so prepared to be disappointed.
i had never seen such infatuation so clearly in someone's eyes before.
but there it laid,
ringing richie's melting brown eyes.
it amazed me how deeply richie hated his eyes.
yet, i loved them with every fibre of my being.
they weren't as simple as he wanted them to be.
they held every secrets that'd been whispered to him,
every memory he'd made in this lifetime,
and every feeling he was forced to feel.
i managed to think all of this while our lips moved together smoothly.
i allowed myself to become overwhelmed with bliss,
feeling my worlds collide together.
i had dreamt of this moment for so long,
and it was better than i could have ever envisioned.
"it was me,wasn't it?"
he grinned a proud grin.
i rolled my eyes for what felt like the hundredth time tonight and pushed him away.
"you got lucky, that's it."
