Do You Have A Problem With That?

Start from the beginning

At break the girls and I discuss our NCS plans. We're all going on the 9th August to an outdoor activity centre in Wales for five days. Then on the 16th we're headed off to a university for five days and then on the 23rd we are going to do some charity work in our local community. The guys are going on the same date as us, as well as Luke and his friends.

Luke and I text a lot since the trip and we've become very good friends. We speak about NCS and conveniently he said he's going on the same date as us. I'm actually really excited to see him.

After break we have another lesson and then we had our end of year celebration assembly. I always enjoyed having these because it was supposed to be a look back at the year to celebrate what we'd achieved. However, in this assembly the head of year stands and starts to lecturing us about how next year will be crucial and how we need to be 100% focused. She speaks about how the holidays need to be spent revising and after that my brain shuts off because frankly, I'm getting a bit tired of the constant reminder of how next year is important. In the assembly the girls and I sit towards the back of the hall and the guys sit in-front of us, including Alex.

He looks back at me a couple of times but I keep my eyes on the teacher, pretending not to notice. Just as Mesut said, he actually looks quite downcast. I'm worried about him, but I will not give in first. It's because of his player ways that I need to stay away from him.

Finally, after her lecture the teacher begins the more positive side of the assembly. There are a couple of awards that are given out for things like, highest attendance and most amount of merits. Then there are the funnier awards like, most smiley person, future leader and sports star.

Of course, Leigh gets the award for the most smiley person. She beams as her name is called, proving exactly why she's the one to win that award. As she walks over to get her award, someone stretches out their leg causing her to trip over. She topples over and I close my eyes expecting to hear everyone burst out laughing but instead I heard a collective "ooooh". I open my eyes quickly to see she's done a roley-poly on the floor and is standing up straight.

"Nice!" Jesy cheers as everyone claps again. Leigh smiles sweetly at whoever tripped her up and carries on walking. When I look over, I can't quite tell who it is but then I hear Leigh speak on the microphone and my attention is back on the front.

"I'd just like to thank my girls and our guys for just being great," she says in an American accent, as if she's accepting a Grammy, causing people in the audience to giggle. "And most importantly Soreya for tripping me up out of jealousy for me and my girls, thanks hun."
Silence falls over the whole audience, as Leigh puts the microphone down and then does her signature strut back to her seat, flipping her hair back for dramatic effect. The girls and I look at each other in amusement and then we start laughing and clapping at the same time as she walks back over to us. Slowly, everyone else begins to clap too. When she sits back down, she mutters something under her breath about how much she hates Soreya.

Of course, Alex is awarded the sports star of the year. He gets up almost half-heartedly to get his award. When asked if he has anything to say, he shakes his head and walks back to his seat, earning weird looks from everyone. Before he sits back down he smiles at a couple of boys who were hyping him up for winning the award for a third year in a row and then he looks at me with a blank face. I look over to Mesut who sends me an 'I told you so' look. Awards are given out to a few other individuals and then the teacher starts her lecture all over again.

Once the assembly is over it's time for lunch. Our year group is quite close, compared to other year groups. On the last day of every year we all grab something small to eat, like a cookie or a bun and then we'd all go outside and spend the last lunch time of the year together just goofing around and taking photos. Sometimes we'd have water fights too, but this year we were leaving that until after school.
