S Y N O P S I S

IRIS DÍAZ is the epitome of compassion and kindness, always eager to help anyone in need. She's sunshine personified, beloved by those in her small beachside hometown. She's always smiling and even on the gloomiest of days, she'll find the silver lining. She looks for rainbows when it rains and marvels at the stars on the darkest nights. She's your straight-A, never-gotten-into-trouble type of teenager, determined on getting through high school with good grades and into her top college to fulfill her dreams. She's full of hope and driven by her ambitions. Painting and daydreaming are her passions. Struggling with anxiety, she lives in the comforting bubble her ordinary but consistent life provides, surrounded by her four older brothers and two closest friends. In her world, everybody has good in them and there is good in everything. But not all is what it seems: she has carefully built walls, walls that are indestructible—at least in her own mind—to protect her from the disappointments of life. Iris Díaz knows plenty about those.

LOGAN KINGSTON is the notoriously reckless and sarcastic youngest son of the wealthiest man in the neighboring city. He's the black sheep of his family, the troubled son who's a thorn in his father's side, often neglected during his childhood as consequence of his parents' busyness. His status gives him power and with power comes great responsibility, but his lack thereof evokes disfavor from many. Though born into fame and money, and often reaping the benefits of both, his life is ripping at the seams. Once he had a secure and promising future, now he's a broken, angry boy unsure of whether he'd make it to the next day. Early on in life, he decided the world was cold and gray, his outlook utterly bleak. If he can't charm his way out of trouble, he'll respond with his fists. Feared by most for his unpredictability, they say he's heartless, that he's incapable of loving anything or anyone. Anything good he comes across he either grows to hate or seeks to destroy. He's described as a ticking time bomb: the slightest provocation could set him off. Several believe he's a lost cause, a boy beyond redemption, fallen from grace. If nothing else, Logan Kingston is a disappointment to life.

So what happens when life brings the two polar opposites together? Will sparks fly, or will they burn each other out? Will they anchor one another, or bring each other down?
