What if Kaneki never went on that date? Or what if Rize succesfully ate him? Or if he never went to Anteiku? Well, I guess Rize or another person would be the protagonist, and Hide wouldn't have to die, Kaneki would still think Ghouls are non-human monsters disguised as humans?
