Taehyung sits on crisp white sheets, the smell of sanitizer fills his nostrils. His brother, Seokjin is softly talking to him, Taehyung just nods along not really listening. The humming of monitors drowns out Jin's voice and falls alongside into the humming and beeping. Taehyung stares at the brown tray on his lap, Orange jello is a white plastic container. Taehyung pokes at it...why couldn't it be strawberry? Taehyung smiles as he remembers the time he and Jungkook were in the first grade.
Taehyung had gotten jello in his lunch like always, but his mom had gotten him orange jello, Taehyung didn't have anything against jello. But, Orange jello was a different story...it reminded Taehyung of crisp linen sheets and lavender Lysol, late night trips to the hospital and the smell of death in the air. Taehyung hated hospitals all they brought were bad news.
So, he had sat alone at the lunch table staring at the cup, the scent of Tangerine giving an acidic twist in the air.
Taehyung always sat alone. That was until a boy came up to him.
Jeon Jungkook.
He was a year younger than him, Taehyung only knew him because one day he had bumped into him and instead of ignoring him (which if what people often did,) the younger smiled at him flashing his bunny smile and a mouth spilling out apologies. That was the day Taehyung fell for Jungkook, quite literally and figuratively.
"Wanna t-trade?" Jungkook had stuttered, snapping Taehyung out of his train of thought.
his face turned a light shade of pink, "I mean it's just that you seem unhappy with th-"
"Sure." Taehyung cut him off and flashed him his boxy smile. Taehyung had then motioned for Jungkook to take a seat next to him.
"here!" Taehyung then exclaimed, "I'll give you a kookie! Since you're Jungkookie!"
Jungkook's bubbly laughed filled Taehyung's heart.
Jungkook healed Taehyung in ways a hospital couldn't.
And... that was the start of their friendship.
If only Jungkook was here now.
But, He wasn't.
Jungkook was off with his other friends.
And Taehyung was left off in a hospital with a cup or orange jello.
You would have thought they were meant to be forever.
You would have.
In all honesty, Taehyung thought so too.
Oh, how wrong the boy could be.
Jungkook had always been good looking, but then puberty hit him like a truck. Jungkook suddenly had tons of admirers.
Jungkook promised never to change.
He tried out for the baseball team and made it in. Suddenly all the Jocks were his friends.
Jungkook promised never to change.
But, times change and Jungkook did too.
After school hangouts became unusual for the two of them.
Jungkook rarely replied to texts.
Taehyung keep bothering him though
"God Taehyung stop being so damn clingy!" Jungkook had yelled to him in the hallway in front of his varisety friends.
He ran off crying, was he a burden? Was he forever going to be all alone?
He thought he found someone that would look at him and see him as a person.
Not a sickly looking boy that kept his head down.
